NFL’s Ratings Drop Dramatically As Viewers Tune Out Monday Night Football

AmericanLookout- Is it any wonder why millions of football fans are tuning out the NFL? People who like football want to watch a fun game, not be lectured about left-wing issues like social justice.

The NFL has allowed itself to be dragged into this trend and viewers are voting with their remote controls by simply not watching.

Forbes reports:

NFL’s ‘Monday Night Football’ Keeps Dropping In Ratings

It seems likely that the numerous #BoycottNFL online campaigns and fan outrage aimed at the National Anthem protests in the NFL have taken a toll in terms of viewership this season. Additionally, cord-cutting continues to eat into traditional TV’s ratings at an alarming rate. But could there be something else at play?

  1. I’m glad to hear it. I’ll still watch the Patriots and Belichick, Brady, and the rest of the cast. I sure hope I don’t hear anything about them. My current hometown team is Seattle, they seem to be a bunch Obama loving, BLMers that can kiss my homesick ass! I wouldn’t miss the NFL if they went away.

  2. I’ve been out since Marshall of my Broncos took a knee in the Thursday Night opener against the Panthers. Fuck ’em. They could have nipped this shit in the bud but elected to be PC.

And yet they wouldn’t let the Cowboys tip their hats to the police-especially after that nubian killed 5 in Dallas. Really, fuck ’em.

  3. #BlackoppressedMillionairesDon’tmatter

Haven’t watched, won’t watch professional ball.
I record a few college ball games and skip through the mountains of commercials and BS Commentary.
    Pro-sports suck.

  4. I do not understand this fascination with observing “sports.” I understand wanting to PARTICIPATE in sports, regardless of age; sports are fun. Sitting on the couch and watching your betters? Not so much. Perhaps it’s like watching Joey Chitwood do things with an automobile that you can only dream of; no, no…anyone can play these ‘spectator sport,’ hell, we grew up playing them.

I refuse to reward a bunch of unschooled douchebags who pretend their degrees are ‘on the level.’ Stop suckling at the glass teat and enjoy life.

Sports voyeurism, a waste of ones life. Try living.

  5. We already know the Browns’ score for Sunday. Zero to many points. 0 and 16 for the season. Already on the 3rd and 4th string QB. Why bother. Will be shooting w/friends in a cornfield on Sunday. Homemade Killary Zonbie targets.

  6. Tonight’s Kapernick Niners vs. Ferguson Rams NFL matchup will be the biggest no show to date.

Maybe the NFL front office will notice then.

    Who am I kidding? Fuck’em.

Spring OJ from prison and make him the commissioner of this thug outfit.

  7. When a McDonalds employee insults the USA by refusing to serve a cop or serviceman, McDonalds fires the problem employee public apologizes.

When an employee of the NFL public insults this country, the NFL praises the employee and the NFL Commissioner publicly endorses the insult, and encourages more employees to join in.

Incredible stupidity. When the NFL loses enough money, we’ll watch their learning curve.
I suspect most of their lost former fans will not come back. Those former fans are learning new habits and discovering better things to do.
When NFL finally reverses itself, a year or so from now, it will be too late.

NFL deserves to crash and burn.

    Leftism destroys everything it touches.

    Trump 2016.

  8. What the NFL conveniently overlooks is that they are not a government agency so they can require certain conduct from their “employees”–or choose not to as they have on this point.
Fook ’em–I don’t watch them without the BS, and now that my Mets are in the offseason, maybe a hockey game or two, but that’s about it for sports until spring training.

  9. @joe6pack I still cheer for the Cleveland Browns and root for the Cincinnati Bengals. By no means am I a huge football fan but I grew up watching Woody Hayes at OSU. Archie Griffin went to my high school. I appreciate the tradition and nostalgia. Not sure what it is about the Seahawks and the #12’s but I find each of them incredibly insincere and irritating. I hate “Blue Fridays” almost as much as the spandex brigade that ride on the roads by my house!

  10. Here are the teams with players that have protested during the National Anthem:
    49ers
    Rams
    Broncos
    Dolphins
    Titans
    Patriots
    Chiefs

I am boycotting only games where these teams play. That creates a greater dichotomy as to why I protest. The NFL can not prevent the protests. It is first amendment right. But the owner’s, coaches, and players of a team can create a culture for their own team and do not deserve to be punished.

I am keeping score. And while I never played fantasy football, I am now keeping specific track of some players…those that protest our anthem.

  11. Meerkat, the NFL absolutely can impose, and in fact does impose, a code of conduct for their players, as does MLB, NBA, NHL, and too many numerous private business’ and employers. For example, the NY Yaankees prohibit beards and facial hair other than a mustache, no gross mutton chops, and business attire worn to and from the stadium.

In week 14 the NFL has by edict directed players to wear any type of shoe they desire in order to promote the social cause of their choice. Normally, they must wear uniform items that meet the strict requirements they have in place, in accordance with their marketing agreements etc…

If they wanted to, under the umbrella of the fine print in every single contract, they could immediately issue an order that requires all personnel on the field to stand during the opening introductions and the playing of the national anthem. Its under the player conduct category, for the good of the game. It has nothing to do with private, personal free speech.

  12. I haven’t watched Monday Night Football much since Dandy Don and Howard C. left the show. No matter how bad the game was, you could always depend on those two for real entertainment. RIP, guys.

  13. Meerkat, I missed a Patriots player boycott. What the hell, now who do I root for? You didn’t name the Seahawks. The whole damn team locks arms to show unity against the injustices that all these black guys have to endure. Give me a frickin break!

  14. “You didn’t name the Seahawks. The whole damn team locks arms to show unity against the injustices that all these black guys have to endure.”

    Yup. They half-assed it. BS

  15. Of course tonight’s viewership will be low due to the storm.

Sunday night viewership will be low due to the debate.

Monday night viewership will be low due to the American Pickers marathon.

  16. Thank God I have never given a shit about any sport that didn’t have a horse or dog in it. Hell, I have even been to rabbit and cat shows. I am doubly grateful that mr.rottylover never watched them either. He used to watch boxing and drag racing.

  17. A number of years ago, Rush Limbaugh was looking to buy into the St. Louis Rams, and leftists had a conniption fit. The NFL then refused to let Rush buy part of the team. I haven’t watched a game since then. Screw the NFL. I hope it goes broke and ceases to exist.

  18. I only watch the Jets, Giants, Bills, and Packers, but on mute. I don’t give a shit who wins any game as long as my pool numbers come
up. I don’t go to Super Bowl parties any more, too late at night.
I watch it at home, alone, and mute. I pay attention to the “change of score” ’cause every change of score is a prize in my big pool.
Years ago I used to go to the Jet games. My friend had season tickets with great seats. I loved the colors, the action, the size and power of the players, and the 1/2 time shows. But no more.
I detest the Copperdicks in the NFL, and the NFL itself and it’s leaders. Just give me the scores and I’ll watch golf or the History Channel.

  19. I’ve been watching rugby the last couple of years. Games run just under two hours. The pro leagues in UK & Ireland tend to favor more scrums & mauls. If you catch the New Zealand Kiwis, they’re prone to running a wide attacking game, w/ fewer scrums. My Roku now has a Rugby channel, for $50 a year I can catch Irish league games.
