The men from Vicksburg, Michigan, were in Tennessee at a log cabin when the puppies’ mother came to their front door. She led them into the woods where her seven puppies were hiding in a hole (left). The groomsmen cleaned the dogs off and brought them in to the house (right). They brought the seven puppies and the mother home with them where they now live in a five-mile radius between the men’s homes.

I just visited the cemetery yesterday where a nephew is buried wanting to spend a moment at his grave with him. It’s also where my Lizzie and I first laid eyes on each other. She was blocking the entrance just standing there back in Spring of 2004. After she moved and we went to the fresh grave, she crawled up behind the girl that was with us. Definitely a begging thing.
Ribs showing. Concave stomach. Afraid of men. We knew she was abused and abandoned. The girl picked her up and put her in my truck for me. Almost 12 years later now she’s still a bit gun shy in general but she’s fat, happy and getting old with me.
Even though a man had been her tormentor, she knew she needed to approach us to find food and shelter. She found love to boot. Smart dog.
Damn. Can’t do math this morning. Almost 13 years now.

I, like many others here, love a good dog story. Let me share another. A Veterinarian Clinic near San Antonio, Tx takes in stray/homeless animals that would otherwise not receive treatment. It subsists on donations and funds generated by youtube hits for the cost of care. Mild squeamishness viewing.

Good job guys. Mama dog knew what to do for her family and luckily she ran into a group of real men not some trash like Michael Vick.
How could they not adopt those beautiful dogs? That still doesn’t detract from them doing right, doing good. How many weddings include such rich, memorable experiences?
My husband and I rescued a dog who had been tied up for so long he had a scar around his body
behind his front legs an inch wide. Barney was so frightened when we caught him that we thought
we may have made a mistake but when he realized we had great food he fell in love with us and we
were crazy about him. Barney was a comedian. The first week we had him my little niece put a
Micky Mouse had on his head and he loved it. He wore that hat at all times an insisted we put it on
his head. I could write a book on the antics of this dog with a big silly heart. I still get tears when
I talk about him. He was a joy in our lives and I think these men will be as rewarded as we were.
Wonderful story – great group of guys (thank you!) – smart mama dog. I really believe dogs know who to trust, and somehow she knew to trust these men. Thank you for posting this.
