DC: Asra Nomani is a Muslim, liberal-leaning woman who voted for Donald Trump in the presidential election, and on Friday she explained to CNN’s Carol Costello why she did it.
Nomani, a former reporter for the Wall Street Journal and co-founder of the Muslim Reform Movement, explained to Costello that Trump is casting light on problems America is ignoring “for the sake of political correctness.”
“What I know is that we have today a very real and serious threat by extremist Muslims,” she stated. “This is a reality that we haven’t confronted directly for the sake of political correctness, and if people would hear out the concerns and fears that others have about the issues to refugees and extremists, I think we could find a path that’s in the middle.”
Nomani added that “unfortunately, what happens is that this liberal honor brigade shuts down all conversation, calls you ‘bigot’ or ‘racist’ or ‘islamophobe’ if you dare to speak your own concerns.”

An American Muslem. Who knew
Bravo! … about time
Ok, she can stay. The rest of you, OUT!
And she will have trouble getting her message out from now on.
Trump did not defeat the Democrat, he defeated the progressive movement’s candidate and that means he won battles on three fronts. The establishment Republicans, the Democrats and the media. All wings of the progressive movement.
All he had going for him was middle America and as a capitalist, he listened to his customers.
Don’t be fooled by this taqiyya bullshit. This is how they get you to let your guard down.
Glass Islam from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
Ain’t buy’n it since:
It is okay for muslims to lie for the greater good of islam; if they: fornicate, drink alcohol, use drugs, etc… and they are not in the “Holy Lands,” allah cannot “see” them. Woo WHO! Remember 9/11 and those involved? Do some research on those that took over the airplanes.
& Vetted by the Daily Caller?
Gimme more to convince me beyond what I know about islam and their history prior to today and farther back than 9/11, the Twin Towers, and about the time of mohammed (and who he knew and learned from).
Once I was not allowed to be on a jury because I told the defense attorney that such and such was possible but not very damn likely. Hope she’s not lying but who can say.
Pfffffffftttt. Did she just say “the left has to move to the middle?”
In what universe?
Careful with Muslims. They are the enemy.
They want to get into high offices to spy.
Just like Huma
Moderate muslims like her can be problematic. They are sometimes not aware “extremist” muslims follow true Islam and their moderate ideologies are in error.
Some moderate muslims do know the deadly, hatefilled realities of Islam and try to hide in a sympathetic culture and lie to keep from being targeted.
My guess is the woman in the interview is the latter. She loves her culture, just not the tyrannical aspects.
The caveat is it’s difficult to know what choices a moderate Muslim will make under pressure. Any muslim can be literally, a ticking time bomb – especially a millennial muslim.
Because she called for the right to move to the middle on Islam, even after she says it’s such a threat, I don’t believe her.
Best thing DT can do is encourage THEM to denounce Islam, since the perfect revelation of the prophet can never be reformed without becoming a whole other religion. And they know it.
Or just say, “Thanks for your vote.”
Until the muslims go through
a wrenching reformation movement
(as did christians centuries ago)
they can only considered untrustworthy at best. A few standing
up here and there is praiseworthy
but futile in stopping the crazies.
Has she been ganged-raped and beheaded yet?
What she says is right, but it takes a lot more than just an interview on CNN to establish credibility. I can’t help but notice that appearing on CNN doesn’t exactly make her a “silent voter”
Too many people in this country are way too quick to trip over themselves to embrace a minority in order to prove they aren’t bigots and racists, something that has been relentlessly drilled into us, especially over the past eight years for absolutely no good reason other than to promote the big lie.
I’ll start noticing reform when I see the first Million Muzlim March protesting iSlamic Terrorism!

It can’t ever happen. Truly reforming Islam would require questioning and rejecting Mohammed himself, which no Muslim can do and remain a Muslim (or alive).
Best case scenario: “reform” Muslims will flee (if they can) any country controlled by consistent Mohammedans. Their calls for reform will be considered apostasy. As with Salman Rushdie, the Mohammedans will declare all “reformists” apostates and guilty of shirk, which means they can be murdered as the will of Allah. But the “reforms” will do nothing to alter Islam itself.
Meanwhile, the “reform” Muslims in the West will still likely push for us to adopt some degree of Islamic jurisprudence.
In short, nothing new will come of it…and THAT’S assuming people like her are for real.
Muslimes, like pitbulls, may go their whole life being peaceful. . . but that doesn’t change what they are by design.
Correct me if I’m wrong (as if you wouldn’t!), but I’ve read here and elsewhere many times that moderate muslims need to come forward, acknowledge that there is a real problem with their religion, and condemn muslim terrorists. This woman has come forward, acknowledged a problem with her religion, condemned muslim terrorists, and is not being believed sincere.
OK, I admit to being a bit skeptical myself. What do we do about this contradiction? (serious question)
Uncle Al – I don’t doubt there are some sincere moderate muslims out there.
It’s sort of like saying all Democrats are bad and all Republicans are good or vice-versa.
The problem is there aren’t enough of them and without a real, genuine groundswell (that million muzlim march I referred to) there is justified doubt attached to it.
Frankly I don’t mind fanning the flames of muslims condemning muslim terrorists, I just don’t want to get burned by it! It will take years of a lot more muslims like her before I’m ready to believe they want to change. It is always prudent to guard against a Trojan Horse, particularly when history as shown it is their preferred method.
There is no such thing as a ‘moderate Muslim’.
@Uncle Al: “OK, I admit to being a bit skeptical myself. What do we do about this contradiction? (serious question)”
There’s an old cowboy say’n that fits here: “The wildest broncos are those you rode some place else.”
The answer simply is: show me. Thus far, we’ve yet to be “shown” how that toughest bronc was rode.
Solar water heaters, water heaters, dryers, solar cookers, solar greenhouses, solar houses, solar desalination plants, and solar heating and cooling. Solar thermal power generation has higher solar energy conversion efficiency than photovoltaic power generation, but its application is still not widespread. In the light-to-heat conversion, the current application range, the most mature technology, and the most economical is the application of solar water heaters.
