Trump Supporters Coming Out of the Closet – IOTW Report

Trump Supporters Coming Out of the Closet

There’s a funny thing I’m experiencing “out there.”

I’m not “out there” that much, but there are a few circles I run in. Prior to the election there were a few people that were vocal about their support of Trump. They’d run into a few Hillary supporters and there would be a little war of words. I would glance around and see people looking down, not wanting to get involved.

I couldn’t read who they were supporting.

Since Tuesday night I’ve been to a pool hall, a card room, a tennis court, and the golf course.

Every place I went the subject of the election was the first thing people wanted to discuss. Turns out, ALLLLLLL of the people who were silent, kind of looking down and not wanting to get into a political fight, were TRUMP SUPPORTERS.

Now they are willing to proudly say they supported Trump all along, and there are lots of them. They outnumber Hillary supporters 6-1, easily.

I don’t really blame the people who stayed silent. They simply did not want to have to answer the rabid Hillary supporter who would inevitably imply that you were a deplorable if you planned on voting for Trump. People were sick of it. And, in a way, Hillary disciples had a false sense of what was really going on out there because they shouted people into remaining silent.

I’m glad they were sandbagged. They deserve it for being obnoxious. Their epithet laced dismissal of Trump voters cloaked the tsunami that awaited them.

Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon?

  1. All over the place. It’s reminiscent of ’72 and Nixon-McGovern. Pauline Kael of the New Yorker Magazine (she was drama critic) couldn’t believe that Nixon won 49 states , observing that no one she knew voted for him. Trump was an underground rock star for the most part. Glad I came around earlier in the skirmish thanks to you, Hat.

  2. This county went >80% for Trump.
70 Retards DID vote for Johnson.
And a few Fellow Travellers (700+) went for Clinton and the National Socialists/Bolsheviks.

    izlamo delenda est …

  3. I definitely noticed that there were few political signs and bumper stickers for either party. I believed even before the election that it meant that no one supported Hill and no one wanted their property vandalized by libs. I told my husband on Tuesday evening that I could not see how it was possible that she would win, and for once, I was right. Boy, am I glad about that. But the liberals are obviously still dangerous and crazy, so we shouldn’t get careless over this victory.

Sort of. Some like-minded people at work identified themselves, and we wound up laughing when they told me they were trying hard to find a neutral way of finding out where I fell on the spectrum. 11 to the red in most things, giggle. None of us talk about it overtly, because while the office manager is very sweet, she’s a democrat with a big D regarding anything political. There’s no talking to her on that topic. The owner is conservative, but I don’t see him much.

I had to make a trip to the laundromat a few weeks ago, and started talking to a couple of people while on my way out. That turned into a 10-minute exchange talking to another woman already in agreement, and we flipped another couple of people who had no idea about Clinton history, or some of the details about her revenue stream.

Iā€™m glad they were sandbagged, too, and they didn’t deserve it just for being obnoxious. Their epithet-laced dismissal of anyone not-them was a symptom of that underlying arrogance and assumption that it was her turn, dammit, and they were correct in all things. I was happy to be part of that tsunami. VERY happy.

  5. I am one of 2 people on my dead end road of about 3/4 of a mile that sported a Trump 2016 and Hillary for Prison sign in my yard. (There were no Hillary signs in this old timey Democrat stronghold) BUT, I live in a small country town and when I was putting up my signs a man that used to own the local Piggly Wiggly stopped and said surely not? I told him unknown Trump was way better than criminal, corrupt Clinton. He clammed up and drove on. I wouldn’t, however put a bumper sticker on. I go to the Walmart occasionally and knew some Dim would vandalize my truck. I almost understand the sentiment. Was all I could do to not ram people with Obama stickers in 2012. šŸ™‚

  6. You couldn’t support Trump openly without getting into a fistfight. And I’m one of those guys who considers a single punch or shove to be an affront punishable by death.

  7. Indiana was high in Trump support all along. I’m still wearing my Swarovsky crystal Trump broach everywhere I go, and more people high-five me now than before the election.

Last night as we were leaving a Mexican food restaurant we had a really great experience. A man close to my age was in line for carry-outs and smiled at me very warmly as DH and I were leaving.

I noticed his hat which said Viet Vet, and thanked him for his service while extending my hand. He thanked me for supporting Trump. We stood there grinning at each other while clasping hands.

  8. I wanted to add that for the first time in nearly a decade, I feel like I have more to look forward to than I did before. Definitely more relaxed than I was on Monday. At that point, I tried to not even think about it. I knew if she won, we’d all still be here, but between the permanent unelected bureaucratic rule having the SCOTUS in its pocket, I wouldn’t live long enough to see the country ever again come close to what I once knew.

  9. I’m skeptical.
Too many of those “Monday Morning Quarterbacks”
may just be *saying* they voted for Trump
just to be in the “In/Winner” crowd.

What *I* have noticed in my day-to-day travelling around
(my County is split East/West: D/R)
is ebullient happiness among those clearly (but silently) for Trump,
and a “deep”, “profound”, insatiable and silent pensiveness
among the f*cking Commie-Wannabes and Other Losers.

    (oh BOO FRIGGIN HOO!)

  10. Czar,
Your’e describing “Basking in reflected glory” syndrome. At this point it doesn’t matter if they voted for Trump or not. Trump won and they have declared their support. Every society has a certain amount of weak minded individuals. We seem to have them in spades.

  11. Here in Nashville/Davidson County– a Libtard stronghold– I saw very few Hillary signs and even fewer Trump ones. I normally put signs in my yard, but I was cautious this year due to the threat of vandalism. I suspect there were many of that mindset as Tennessee went 61% or so for Trump. (Woohoo!)

  12. Thank You Brad. No facebook here tho. Hopefully it’ll be U-tubed.

And, I promise I will be more serious tomorrow. I will grow up and be a nice gentleman. I promise to quit laughing out loud at at any and all hours of the day or night. I just need one more day. I just need this one more day of celebration.

    Okay? LOL

  13. Their go-to sources of liberal media totally set these “tolerant” folks up for failure by NOT showing MASSIVE CROWDS AT Trump rallies and the like. The Fourth Estate chose to NOT report on things they saw that would hurt their agenda and not help usher in Hillary to The White House. They let their arrogance to the talking and it cost YOU them BIG LEAGUE. When you’re touting polls day after day showing Hillary ahead by at least ten points and putting all your faith in that, of course Trump winning is gonna sandbag you. That’s why so many are still and will continue to poop their diapers.

  14. I wore my ‘I love deplorables’ shirt in public 3 times. Twice it got smiles, nods, thumbs up and no negative comments.

The 3rd time I went to India Grocers (great produce and spices) and was mobbed by the shoppers and store employees. I posted that here. Everyone wanted to see the shirt, shake hands, tell me a strong American voice was needed against the constant Muslim on Hindu violence in India. People told me how Hindus in the US and India were group praying for Trump.
As a bonus got a good recipe for batata wada (gram flour’s the secret) and an invitation to a Diwali party which I attended on 10/30.
So now I have a new batch of ecstatic friends.

  15. I gather a lot of people who voted for hillary didn’t realize she was in shit deep up to her elbows. I wish women would turn off the fucking TV sometimes. Between The View and bullshit reality tv, they don’t know what’s going on unless it has to do with an actor.

  16. I am thrilled Hiliary lost, as are many of the people I deal with regularly. Now, as we step back from gloating over the end of a corrupt dynasty, We are very, very cautiously watching how the victor is proceeding. The early signs are sending very mixed messages. Destroying Hiliary was our ultimate goal, Trump was just our tool to do so, and he ended up being the only tool left in the tool box. Maybe that is what you are seeing. It may be way different once he actually starts his job.

  17. @ Perspective

DH came home from a grandson’s BB game and I sat him down to watch (I watched it again). He doesn’t laugh real often, but he did with that video. My sister phoned me from the west coast to laugh her butt off about the video. I have no doubt I will hear from the rest of the crew who received the link.

  18. I’m blessed to live in a solid red county. There were only 2 Hillary/Kaine supporters on my street. One being my next door neighbor and I think I need to call local LE for a welfare check, as I haven’t seen her since 11/9.

The other was a Bernbot until he was robbed and then he had a I’m With āž”ļø Her sticker on the inside of a footlocker stored in his closet.
