  1. Thanks for putting this up. The earlier post on the first record people bought got me thinking. Yeah, that’s hard work. Francoise Hardy records were when I was 13-14. The first was Barry Sadler’s Ballad of the Green Beret. Dad was assigned to Ft. Bragg, we lived in Fayetteville (Fatalville, Fayettenam) and that song was a huge hit. My brother and I bought it together. I was 11 yrs old.

We also bought Lyndon’s Great Society. The writer and singer had local NC connections. My parents detested Johnson to the core. My brother would do the accent and belt out this song to annoy the Johnson loving neighbors.
Periodically I’ve searched the Internet for it. Last night was the first time I found it. That song still resonates after 50 years..

Lyndon Nimrod needs to be roasting with FDR.

  2. “They don’t bomb an outhouse [in Vietnam] without my approval.”

Enacted the “McNamara Plan” which sought to draft 100,000 illiterate negroes into the Army and, subsequently, into Vietnam. Another Demonrat “outreach” program.

  3. LBJ died the same day that Roe v wade was enacted into law by the Supreme Court. I don’t think this was a coincidence as a lot of his failed policies had huge unforeseen consequences. The day he died I was working Special Services at NAS Miramar, Cal. just North of San Diego and was in charge of the reader boards at the base entrances and put up the notice in large letters letting everyone know that LBJ had died. I never liked LBJ and it wasn’t just because of Vietnam, he was a major league jerk as well.

  4. Has anything other than total warfare destroyed families as a sold foundation of society, American culture, independence, self reliant attitude more the LBJ’s Great Society program?

  5. I can’t think of anyone, Blink. He’s worse than Obama. As a teenager in the ’60’s I predicted that history will view him as a complete traitor to American ideals, our way of life and our Constitution.
