Record 95,102,000 Americans Not in Labor Force; Number Grew 18% Since Obama Took Office in 2009

(CNSNews.com) – Barack Obama’s presidency began with a record number of Americans not in the labor force, and it’s ending the same way.

The final jobs report of the Obama presidency, released Friday, shows that the number of Americans not in the labor force has increased by 14,573,000 (18.09 percent) since January 2009, when Obama took office, continuing a long-term trend that began well before Obama was sworn in.

In December, according to the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, a record 95,102,000 Americans were not in the labor force, 47,000 more than in November; and the labor force participation rate was 62.7 percent, a tenth of a point higher than in November.

The participation rate dropped to a 38-year low of 62.4 percent on Obama’s watch, in September 2015. It was only 3-tenths of a point higher than that last month.  MORE

  1. let’s say population 320 million
assume 75 percent working age (over 16), or 240 million
    95 million / 240 million = 40 percent unemployment

our disingenuous government understating the 4.7 percent “unemployment” by factor of 8.5

    great job, obama

  2. US population is estimated at approximately 319M. With 63% of the population between 18 ~ 65 y.o. or 201M. 95/201 = 47% not working.

Of course some within that age group choose to stay home to raise children, going to school, etc. But if you include people of working age between 16 ~ 18 y.o. It probably balances out to about the same 47% out of work who are able to work. Not included would be bums who play the system and parasite off everyone else.

Someone is screwing with basic math. Their numbers are off by a decimal point. There’s a big big difference between 4.7% unemployed and 47% unemployed.

  3. Opps, I intended to also include that some people between 16 ~ 65 y.o. are disabled & unable to work who would like to work but cannot. But that probably wouldn’t change the actual unemployed much from 47%.

  4. As of last year, I’m formally not click bait
for the IRS as a non US tax payer now in a territory.
    NO MORE AUDITS! Bwahahahaha!
My record now has notes IF they see my name cross
in any type of tax business or returns/requests to
    immediately report foreign fraud.
    Sometimes, life is good…..
