  1. Shoulda started punching these weenies in the face as soon as they first appeared. But we were slightly amused at their silliness and thought them outliers devoid of logic and not to be taken seriously. We were wrong.

  2. A very early Freberg gem. Almost predicting the coming Political Correctness. Lawrenece Welk sued Freberg over a Welk parody. Welk won and was awarded ONE cent. The judge claimed Welk got much publicity from the recording. Because of that suit Capitol Records would not release parodies on Ed Sullivan or Arthur Godfrey. They are now available on cd.

  3. This is till hilarious, Stan Freberg and Daws Butler still crack me up. And yes he did anticipate political correctness by mocking it and making fun of it. His routine about the El Gommorah and El Sodom hotels in Las Vegas and their outdoing one another with their stage acts until they get to the part about, Live on stage the Atomic bomb for one appearance only is absolutely hilarious and is available on You Tube. I also like his parody of Westerns with Bang Gunly US Marshall Fields brought to you by Puffed Grass cereal, because after all 10 million cows can’t be wrong. Stan Freberg was a comedic genius.

  4. Beany and Cecil (the seasick dinosaur) was the best cartoon along with Looney Tunes (and Rocky and Bullwinkle) back in the early 60’s on Saturday mornings. And no one forgets Dishonest John as the bad guy, Yuh, uh, uh!!! Bob Clampett (as well as some early WB cartoons), who created Beany and Cecil was another comedy genius.

  5. Vietvet, XM’s old time radio station channel 148 still occasionally plays Stan Freberg’s show. I love listening to it, 60 years later it still makes me laugh, sometimes I laugh my ass off, it’s that funny. His show was originally a summer replacement for Jack Benny and it was a great one. I love listening to Jack Benny also.
