Illinois Bill Would Authorize Gun Confiscation Without Owner’s Input

Breitbart: Illinois Senator Julie A. Morrison (D-29) is pushing a bill that allows judges to confiscate guns without input from the firearm owner.

This is part of the continuing effort to fight gun crime that gun control has failed to stop in Chicago and the rest of the state.

SB 1291 would create a “Lethal Order of Protection” whereby the firearms of Illinois residents could be confiscated if a family member or “law officer” files a petition stating the gun owner “poses an immediate and present danger of causing personal injury to himself, herself, or another by having … [a firearm] in his or her custody or control.”  more here

  1. As if Chicago doesn’t have enough killing. Let’s further cripple the law abiding so the criminals, (WHO DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR STUPID LAW, Senator Stupid), can be the only ones armed!!

  2. Loco, I’m a Cali 007 FFL and if you drop your gun off for work at my shop and it takes longer than 30 days I need to run another background check on you before I give you YOUR gun back.

  3. Also if a teacher suspects danger from the parent or odd behavior from a student which could be determined as immediate danger, the firearms and licenses get taken away with no recourse, and the filing can be anonymous and without merit. Gotta love Illinois.

  4. Bad_Brad, I hear ya. No way momma is moving any further away from her kids and grandbabies. 😉 Gotta say, wasn’t impressed with ID or OR state police when we went to Idaho to visit a buddy a couple of years ago though.

  5. Yes that’s the plan nationwide. Take the guns from the law abiding.
The New York State Police are now asking all gun (pistol, revolver) owners to re register their weapons. I went along with the program because I really don’t give a fuck anymore. I’m old and I plan to sell them to a licensed gun store. I can’t give them to my sons because they are just blue collar types, carpenters, plumbers, what have you? just deplorables, not entitled to 2nd Amendment Rights to own a gun. Just what the fuck does it mean to have Republicans a majority in the House and Senate, along with a Republican President, if we have to put up with this shit?

  6. As long as the ‘family member or “law officer”’ who filed the petition must be charged with perjury, by statute and not prosecutorial “discretion,” upon the expiration of the “Lethal Order of Protection” if the resident did not cause “personal injury to himself, herself, or another” during it’s duration, then I’m “good wit dat.”

  7. Straight up racist/totalitarianism.

    Seriously.
If you believed the gun owner was dangerous, would you make a target of yourself by filing? And knowing how fucked-up most bureaucracies are, you’d be long dead before the cops got around to it. Or in a hole somewhere, gagged and tied to a chair while the “dangerous” person played “surgeon without anesthetics?”

Maybe “danger” means something different to other people?

    izlamo delenda est …

LOL, my favorite gun is the one I happen to be wearing that day. I’ve never had anything against GLOCKS. I just find it interesting how passionate people get about their favorite Firearms. All in fun ya understand.
