Leah Remini’s anti-Scientology TV series

WaTimes: Leah Remini’s documentary series that casts a critical eye on the Church of Scientology will come back for a second season at the A&E network, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The second season of “Scientology and the Aftermath” will run 10 episodes and should air in the summer, THR reported.

“The way the organization has responded without taking responsibility for what they do to people, I need to continue,” Ms. Remini told THR.

“Until the day I no longer have this platform, I won’t be silent,” she added.  MORE

  1. I recently watched an expose’ documentary (posted on YT). I can’t remember who did the doc, but it seemed pretty thorough. I had a fuzzy memory of L. Ron Hubbard because one of my Aunts had picked up his book at a garage sale back in the 80’s and, having run through all her back issues of Readers’ Digest, I started reading. It read just like the Communist Manifesto in that Hubbard re-branded ordinary nouns with his own language to make it sound exotic and new. When you think about Scientology’s founder and foundational tenets, it’s a whole lot of science fiction gobbledigook. Always amazing to me that people can believe in something as easily debunked as this, but incredulously gasp at the idea of Jesus Christ, a man who was well known and whose life was chronicled in history.

  2. South Park lampoons everyone and everything, and Isaac Hayes, who was the voice of character ‘Chef’, was apparently okay with it. Then, they went after Scientology, and he quit the show. Trey Parker and Matt Stone got the last laugh, when they resampled all of Hayes’ old dialogue and completely eviscerated the character!

Then, they went after Tom Cruse and John Travolta! Who can forget the episode where Tom Cruse is working in the South Park Candy Factory, busily packing fudge, which he vehemently denies? Or John Travolta living in the closet, trying to get the courage to come out of the closet?

Scientology is a cult, and worse!

  3. I’m sorry, but if they’re down, I’m gonna kick ’em some

“On December 5, 1995, Lisa McPherson was dead on arrival at a hospital 45 minutes north of Clearwater Florida. According to the coroner’s report, Lisa was underweight, severely dehydrated, and had bruises and bug bites. Scientologists chose to pass three hospitals en route to New Port Richey Hospital, where Scientologist Dr. David Minkoff was on duty. They could have gone to Morton Plant Hospital, only six minutes away. …In 2012 information came to light that Scientology allegedly spent more than $30 million to silence the Lisa McPherson case. Miscavige allegedly tried to talk to the judge in her case outside of court. Church funds were funneled, says an ex member, from expenses to legal defense. Scientology is still obsessing over the death of Lisa. From a Februray 2013 news account in Australia, it appears that Scientology still holds people in isolation.”

  4. I am very happy that A&E ordered a second season. I watched every episode. It was great.

I had looked into Scientology 25 years ago or so by reading Hubbards “Dianetics”. I could not finish the book because it is laughably ridiculous. Furthermore, it looked like a well constructed means to scam thousands or tens of thousands of dollars from people.

After watching Remini’s series, I realized that is a big part of what Scientology is, a big money scam masquerading as a religion.

Any cult or religion that penalizes those who leave it is clearly false. Islam punishes with death. Hinduism can also punish with death, but mostly it is estrangement from family. Buddhism forces the person to leave the community in majority Buddhist countries. In fact, there is only one religion in the whole world that does not punish those who leave; nearly all forms of Christianity.
