Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez has asked all staff at the organization to submit resignation letters amid efforts to overhaul the party, reports NBC News.
The outlet states that the DNC – “which has been stung by recent crises” – will have an opportunity to remake its headquarters from scratch with the move.
NBC News also states that Perez has asked for the resignation letters to be dated April 15.
A committee organized by Perez has reportedly begun interviewing staff to decide whose resignation letters will be accepted. Those individuals will leave, while those whose resignation letters are rejected will be given a chance to stay with the DNC.
This all reportedly comes as no surprise to DNC staffers, who were told to anticipate a shakeup. Perez has stated the Democratic Party needs “rebuilding” in the past.
“What we’re trying to do is culture change,” he told NBC on Friday. “We’re repairing a plane at 20,000 feet. You can’t land the plane, shut it down, and close it until further notice.” more here
