President Donald Trump signed legislation Monday repealing the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Planning 2.0 rule.
Trump signed the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to repeal the rule, which critics claim seizes power from local officials and makes energy development much more difficult. BLM and Democrats claim the rule would help federal agencies better take care of public lands.
The House repealed the BLM rule in February, with four Democrats voting to repeal it. The Senate voted to repeal the rule in early March on a straight party line vote. This is the fourth CRA bill signed by Trump.
Planning 2.0 took effect in December, and never really had a chance to be implemented. Critics of the rule say that’s a good thing.
I hope that history books will soon refer to him as ObaWHO?…

That land should be turned over to the states and BLM terminated.
I worked a fire back in the eighties for BLM in California.
I thought the US Forest Circus produced a lot of useless personnel.
But I have never seen so many desk jockeys out sucking up that good hazard pay as that BLM fire. There were more ‘foot on the bumper’ coffee drinking support staff than there were actual fire line personnel.

Al, I generally agree with your comment except that the Nevada Legislature is now filled with liberals in both houses and they cannot be trusted.
I have said before that how about we start with the BLM restarting some type of the “homestead patent” process again. With instructions to reduce their land holdings by 25%. Put the property on the tax rolls.
Not sure where most readers are from but federal lands cripple the economic viability of counties across the country.
I don’t think the states can do any better job managing the land than a private individual could.
We are talking about millions of acres of potentially productive land that is currently removed from the American economy via the BLM.
It would be a start.

How about giving that mountain back its original name.
I can’t find the part in the US Constitution that details the federal government’s right to own huge swaths of land.
