TSA Security screening went a little too far for this mother and her 13-year-old son – IOTW Report

TSA Security screening went a little too far for this mother and her 13-year-old son

LZ: We all want top security when we fly, sure — but what happens when your child is the target of those security procedures?

Texas mom Jennifer Williamson turned to Facebook to share her outrage after her 13-year-old son received a very thorough pat-down at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

She posted a video of the pat-down and wrote, “We were treated like dogs because I requested they attempt to screen him in other ways per TSA rules. He has SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) and I didn’t want my child given a pat-down like this.”

Williamson says SPD makes her son sensitive to touch and she believes the TSA’s actions were excessive.

Williamson also writes, “Let me make something else crystal clear. He set off NO alarms. He physically did not alarm at all during screening, he passed through the detector just fine.”

And she says she didn’t even catch it all on tape. “We had two DFW police officers that were called and flanking him on each side. Somehow these power tripping TSA agents who are traumatizing children and doing whatever they feel like without any cause, need to be reined in.

The family (who officials say were detained in total for about 45 minutes) missed their flight and Williamson says even hours after the incident, her son was saying, “I don’t know what I did. What did I do?”  MORE [Video]

  1. THINK OF THIS – THE TSA CAME ABOUT AS A RESULT OF 9/11…FOR ALMOST 16 YEARS, THEY HAVE GONE AFTER EVERYONE BUT THE THREAT!!! WHY??? POLITICAL CORRECTNESSS!! THEY WON’T PROFILE MUSLIMS!!

THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MIN, AND THEN TELL ME WHAT THE FUCK GOOD IS THIS ENTIRE WASTE OF AN ORGANIZATION THAT ONLY DISRUPTS THOSE WHO ARE MOST DEFINITELY NOT A THREAT!!

COMPLETE INSANITY AND INCOMPETENCE!! TOTAL WASTE OF $$$$$$$!!!!!

  2. SJA, very grateful for your learn link! My son has this and though he has made great progression through OT and awareness, not to mention age and the improved behavioral skills that come with that, so few people know of it.

I really feel for this mom. These power tripping assholes are doing this to children and making it practically a crime to shed light on the real danger. This is bullshit to the nth.

  3. Run a background check on the molester. He seemed very Sandusky to me.

As for TSA security theater, and that’s all it is, the actors are Barney Fife types. Power hungry losers that have stopped ZERO terrorist plots.

  4. I rarely fly, but when I do, I opt out of the scanners everytime. Why?
1~ It’s inconvenient to the TSA.
2~ It’s uncomfortable for the TSA too (most of the little pricks anyway).
3~ It’s probably the best two minute full-body massage you can get for free (minus the happy ending, off course).
I also believe that if even 10% of all passengers started opting out, it would create such a back-log for the TSA that they MIGHT change their policies. Once it causes pain in the wallet for the AIRLINES & airports due to long lines, possible late & missed flights, AND overwhelming passenger complaints. They might even DEMAND change.
Of course, I could be wrong.

  5. I have to go with a different take on this: From the photo above, I’d say her ‘son’ had it coming. She shouldn’t bitched about it and they may have made their flight on time.

  6. Last time I flew the line was getting divided into metal detector and body scanner. 3 to 5 people would go metal detector and 1 would go scanner. I got selected for the scanner then told them I wouldn’t go in it.

I was told I needed to wait for a male agent to pat me down. Yet the dick never bothered to tell anyone I was waiting.

After 15-20 minutes waiting, he was replaced with another agent who had no idea why I was there, so I put myself in the metal detector segment. That agent told me I can’t do that, I said then get someone over here to pat me down.

After another 15-20 minutes and another 4-5 tries in the metal detector lane the agent got pissed off enough at me and FINALLY called someone over to pat me down.

Power tripping assholes is what they are.

  7. Oh and all that was after they made me take my shoes off and shuv my belongings down their belt. So I couldn’t even simply leave the situation. I was required to get pat down just to claim my shit on the other side.

  8. I have Pre-TSA and have been repeatedly “randomly” chosen for enhanced screening. I am sure I am on a list because I give them grief and have never gone into the “nudie” X-Ray backscatter scanner. Oh, the idiots tell me it is not radiation. Hello…X-ray?

So, the fact that they resort to this extra screening is a tacit admission that they do not trust their background check performed to obtain the Pre-TSA status (that I paid for). I should be exempt or I should get a full refund.

  9. I also have TSA Pre and I don’t know why. Last two trips showed it on my ticket. I didn’t pay or even request it.
And I wore my DEATH TO AMERICA TShirt and everything. Hmmm.

  10. BTW, that creep was going to town checking that kid out.
I’ve put a laptop in the tray and left my ipad in the computer bag before and no one said dick. Maybe I look too hard-core when I’m traveling that they won’t mess with me? LOL. Because I honestly do expect them to fuck with me going through TSA because of my insulin pump.

  11. If I ever have to fly again it will be an unavoidable emergency. I will insist on a pat down, when they get to my double breast prosthesis I will take it all off in full view of everybody. I don’t care if everybody sees what a bilateral mastectomy looks like. Educational.
