UW-Madison Student’s “Research” Tries to Justify Teaching in Ebonics

University of Wisconsin Social Welfare student Erica Gallagher presented her paper on “Linguistic Variations in Leadership” at the Collegiate Conference on Composition and Communication in Portland, Oregon that according to the Daily Caller is getting national attention.

Gallagher used the concept of “code switching” to argue that educators need to adapt themselves to Ebonics in order to “avoid any hurt feelings some people may feel by attempting to speak standard, correct English.”

  1. She wants teachers to let students know that they can speak in their own languages? I know that in some school districts, there are dozens of languages spoken and it isn’t just ebonics. The Tower of Babel in each classroom and how the hell are you supposed to grade a paper?

  2. I HATE memes that I can’t use because they contain spelling and/or grammatical errors.

    It’s “argument”, not “arguement”.

That being said, you can probably guess my opinion of “Ebonics”. It’s the same as Martin Luther King’s would have been, had he had the misfortune to be exposed to the concept.

  3. If I was a total racist and wanted to abuse and disadvantage blacks I would be all in favor of Ebonics. It is the quickest way to marginalized them. Liberals are so stupid it hurts.

  4. “..Grammar Is Too Hard For Minorities To Learn”

No, you git. You’re too lazy to teach to standard. G-d help me, I am sick unto death of the people who are supposed to be in charge using any excuse to up their rate-my-teacher, attendance record and gaining a permanent slot. I am sick of dealing with the fallout.

  5. Doesn’t matter, if I can’t understand them, then I don’t hear them. And even if I do understand them, I’m not interested. Unless there’s over aggression involved on their part, then I only hear bones breaking, and they won’t be mine either.

  6. “To avoid any hurt feelings some people may feel by attempting to speak standard, correct English, Gallagher wants to eradicate the stigma associated with Ebonics — or African–American Vernacular English, a nonstandard dialect of English spoken by some black people.”

Here is a better idea for this dumb crunt. How about she go to work in the ghetto, and try to correct the “social stigma” and “hurt feelings” of those who try to speak and act correctly, but get put down by their fellow ghetto-dwellers as being “too white” or “uncle toms”. That is where the REAL problem lies.

  7. How about this. We make it a requirement for any student who hopes to gain entrance into any institute of higher learning that they must be 100% fluent in Esperanto.

  8. Hahahahahaha! That, right there, is the number one reason that proves liberals hate black, brown, or any other color skin (other than they want them to kill their unborn children). None of these kids that can’t write standard English will ever pass a high stakes standardized test (must pass in order to graduate).

When texting came into use, I worried that students would use text abbreviations instead of proper English to write their essays. Well, some do, but not as many as you would think. But if the teachers start letting the snowflakes use their own “language” instead of standardized English, the students will fail.

  9. I have a kooky idea, let’s have a course of instruction in: English as a First Language

The class will begin with the, Pledge of Allegiance. Then it will be taught in it’s various sections of what each section means: “I”; “pledge”; “allegiance”; “Republic”; “indivisible”; etc… Then, when and why God was added and how that does not make it a prayer.

    Tomorrow, “The Bible as Literature.”

    Class dismissed.

  10. Soft bigotry of low expectations. Watched Good Times last night- it’s amazing how our society has shot itself in the foot since the1970’s. Leftists and their devolution, useful voters are all that’s necessary.

  11. The dems are fine with non-whites speaking ebonics, spanish, arabic, whatever. As long as they learn the phrase “I want to register to vote democrat” in clear english.
