  28. Odd courthouse. Usually prisoners are restrained and brought in through non-public areas for court appearances. This was a man charged with triple homocide, yet after the hearing he was allowed to walk through the public corridor loosely guarded by two deputies.

    The news reports indicate that he was not free on bond, but actually in custody. Sure, he didn’t look like the type of fellow who could run far or fast, but I find it hard to fathom that this court would allow these types of defendants in public corridors and without restraints.

    her mother shacked up with defendant, had a child by him. her daughter from prior relationship was one raped by mommy’s boyfriend. repeatedly.
    when fire happened, defendant had burns on his body and mommy had moved back in to defendant’s home.
    so he was out on bond?

According to another news report I read, he was in street clothes with a restraint attached to his leg to prevent running so his appearance (shackled and in an orange jumpsuit) would not influence a jury as to his guilt. However, as pointed out above, it still seems unusual that he was walked through the public areas of the courthouse

    I’ve seen people influenced by outside situations to the point of absurdity.

    I had a brother and sister in-law that insisted OJ was innocent because they became very anti-cop.
    Why were they anti-cop?
    Because they lost their business after the b-i-l was arrested for diddling the step-daughter.
    The s-i-l didn’t believe the charges.
    The charges were true.
    Everyone knew they were true.

    So, when someone exits a site because we run a story about a guy who molested a child, then murdered the child and her grandparents in an arson, and then jumped from the courthouse balcony rather than face justice (the death penalty), I have to wonder why this is the catalyst for saying we went too far.

    The exit speech reveals a person tacking leftward, which is a sign of weakness. They are welcoming the gray areas pushed by the left, where anything can be mitigated because it makes the world easier to live in.

    Conservatism is tough. The left preys on the weak.
    Pussies and the lazy succumb.

  52. Not siding with FotF, mind you, but I have in the past been a bit disturbed by the vehemence and vitriol in some of the comments posted here. However, over time I came to realize that most of it was due to what I call the “Internet Effect”, where everyone’s emotions get multiplied by a factor of 10 or more. People posting online (and anonymously) will frequently exaggerate their feelings and proposed actions to a degree that they would never do in a normal setting (e.g., saying they would torture to death some evil-doer for a particularly vile act, when they would be totally incapable of doing such a thing in real life). It’s probably ultimately a good thing, too, because it lets people blow off steam in a non-violent manner, instead of taking to the streets and destroying lives and property. Maybe some in the Left could take a lesson from this, ya know?

    IMO Friend of the family just needs to think about it from that perspective, and then maybe he/she won’t so horrified.

  61. @BFH: I didn’t mean to say that I was blaming anyone. However, FotF said it was the “last straw”, implying that this is something that has been building up for a long time. Since the posts on IOTWR have been (in my opinion) nothing out of the ordinary for a Conservative blog, the only thing I could think of was that he/she was offended by some of the opinions expressed here, which at times go a bit over the top. However, since FotF didn’t make it clear what set him/her off, it was just a shot in the dark on my part.
