    If ya gotta be in California, at least you’re in a beautiful part of it. IIRC, that’s in the vicinity of Santa Cruz, right? Before heading for FL we lived in Boulder Creek. Most of the people were great, all of the scenery was breathtaking, and all of the politics were infuriating!

  26. You finally caught up with me age-wise!

    I had the opportunity to meet this wonderful lady and her son when they came to Texas a few years back. She’s a treasure, even if she does have some strange-looking chickens!

  29. @Dadof4: Vietvet’s still around, he’s just taking a sabbatical from commenting for a while. You see, it was recently pointed out to him by the Powers That Be that he was spending WAY too much time on the Internets (a great deal of it of IOTWR) and not NEARLY enough on the various and sundry yard and household maintenance chores that have been piling up for him. So…in order to form a more perfect union, insure domestic tranquility, etcetera, he has been forced to go cold turkey on a lot of his favorite work-avoidance activities. For the nonce, that is.
    He will, however, continue to read as many IOTWR posts as he can (like this one), and may sneak in the occasional snarky comment when it becomes irresistible, but he really needs to cut back on the online time for a while.

    (Incidentally, I don’t know why I’m speaking in the third person here. I blame Lazlo for it, though.)

  39. Hey Loco, you may not feel it but I’ll toast to your birthday this Saturday. It will be easy to remember, it’s going to be warm and sunny and I’ll be bbq’ing and making margaritas.
