Obama White House Repeatedly Tried to Link Steve Scalise to Infamous KKK Leader David Duke

Breitbart:

Former President Obama’s political team repeatedly attacked House Republican Whip Steve Scalise as proof that the Republican party was racist, making him a target for leftist hate during their time in office.

“You’ll recall that one Republican congressman told a reporter that he was ‘David Duke without the baggage,’” former White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters in September 2015, using Scalise to attack Donald Trump. “Mr. Trump isn’t the first Republican politician to countenance these kinds of views in order to win votes.”

Scalise reportedly made the comment about Duke nearly 20 years ago, which a reporter remembered and published in January 2015. In 2002, Scalise gave a speech the European-American Unity and Rights Organization (EURO) — a group tied to Duke, a former KKK leader. Scalise apologized for the decision, calling it “a  mistake I regret,” after it became public in 2014.

But the White House used Scalise as a punching bag, frequently reminding reporters that Republicans blocked both immigration reform and the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, and supported allowing the Confederate flag to be placed in military cemeteries, suggesting they were racist.

“Those are the priorities of today’s Republican Party, and they’ll continue to be until someone in the Republican Party decides to summon the courage to stand up and change it,” Earnest said.

The White House was still using the talking point in August 2016 ahead of the presidential election.

  1. Doesn’t matter. Won’t change or soften the rhetoric.
    Sides are pretty much taken.
The question is: what will the tipping point be? What, if anything, will drive a backlash?
Just keep preparing. Mind. Body. Soul.
    Load & stack.

  2. And the National Review nevertrumpers gladly bent over Obama’s Arc of History just to wash their hands of these racists Trump and Scalise.

“…think of David Duke and his runs for the Senate and for governor of Louisiana in 1990-91 and his presidential campaign in 1992. It was not easy for a lot of Louisiana Republicans to say no to a guy who had some real support in what was then a Democratic state. But people who opposed Duke didn’t regret it. You still see video circulate of a young Scott Walker, then a fairly minor official in the Wisconsin GOP, debating Duke over keeping him off the Wisconsin ballot. By contrast, Steve Scalise had to endure a coordinated effort to kick him out of House leadership in 2014 just for having tried to win over Duke’s supporters.”

  3. Demonrats attempting to vilify the KKK is akin to the Nazis attempting to vilify the Waffen SS.
    Both groups are synonymous.

The KKK is the child of the Demonrat Party.
The Waffen SS is the child of the National Socialist Party.

Obola can’t keep his lies straight, but I guess it really doesn’t matter – considering his base and the state of the media.

    izlamo delenda est …

  4. Nothing has changed in the Democrat party.
They own racism, the Klan, Jim Crow, Segregation.
Remember when the American track-and-field athlete, Jesse Owens, won four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.
Democrat President Franklin Delano Roosevelt would not even acknowledge it publicly. Democrats were still lynching blacks back then.

  5. I actually saw David Duke at a gunshow last Summer. Without fail, everyone at the show – merchants & attendees – went out of their way to avoid the piece of shit.
Leftists would have you think the KKK Duke was among his kinfolk but they would be 100% wrong. We 2A supporters are law-abiding and tolerant. The only thing we are intolerant of is intolerance.
