Star Wars sucks a$$.

Stick with me and I’ll tell you why…

R2-D2 is undeniably a central character.  He’s also clearly and repeatedly referred to as a “service droid”, as indeed are all droids in the “R2 line.”

We hear many characters in multiple films refer to “R2 units” in a generic sense.  Everyone in the Star Wars universe knows that an “R2 unit” is specifically a service droid.  Ships are even designed around having one aboard as standard equipment – the X-wing, being a specific example.

Yet, R2-D2 is called merely “Artoo” by the people supposed to be his closest friends and associates.
I submit to you this is no different than if the character, instead of being an R2-unit service droid, were instead a black mechanic, and everyone called him simply “Black guy” or “Darkie”, instead of his actual name.

Or a Hispanic mechanic being called “Mexican” or “Beaner”, again, instead of his actual name.
If R2 is understood to be a generic term, than clearly “D2” corresponds to the character’s individual name.  Everyone should be calling him “Deetoo”. But they don’t, because Star Wars is racist.

Luke Skywalker in particular, who is supposed to be R2-D2’s closest friend, is particularly guilty here.  Not only does he constantly refer to the character as “Artoo”, but he requires R2-D2 to call him “Master” Luke?!!?  (Granted, we only know this because R2-D2’s beeps and whistles are translated into English for us by C3P0, but seeing as C3P0 is primarily a translator/protocol droid, I think we can take him at his word that this is an accurate translation.)

Again, if instead of being a service droid called R2-D2 the character was a black mechanic called Joe Smith, we’d have THE HERO OF THE MOVIE calling his supposed side-kick by a derogatory racist term, and the black side-kick calling the hero “Master”.

Quite frankly, I’m pretty disgusted that Mark Hamill is such a huge racist a$$hole.  He’s actually a hypocrite on a pretty epic scale, I’d say.  He has the audacity to call out Donald Trump for racism?  When Hamill’s entire career is based on his showboating racist filth?  I can’t help but wonder how much he’d charge to star in a movie bashing gays.

And what about Samuel Jackson?  How can he support this utterly disgusting racist trash by appearing in these movies?  If he’s willing to do this, he’d probably support the KKK, if the pay was good enough, right?

I could go on and on about all the supposedly good liberal actors who show their true colors and hidden racist hearts by appearing in the Star Wars films.  But I think it’s enough to simply say this:  Star Wars sucks.  And so does George Lucas.  And so does anyone who likes Star Wars better than Star Trek, which is far superior in every conceivable way.

    Then 15 minutes of horribly strained attempts at dialogue, intrigue, pointless bullshitting, Frankenstein-stitched together storyline…. then more PEW PEW PEW!

    It has adult themes, suspense, and if you look VEEEERY carefully at the facial expression, body language, tone of voice, you might notice acting talent.

    star wars is more emotionally satisfying, whilst star trek is more intellectually satisfying….

    problem bean – i has emotions and intellect AT THE SAME TIME!!!

    i admit, it’s a weird thing…..most of you probbly don’t suffer from this……

    but i’m happy with both, most of the time, and hate either one, depending on the movie/tv episode…..

    why do i have to choose one or the other????

Grew up with the original Star Wars-and those first 3 movies were the best-then the stupid prequels started. it made George Lucas a lot of money that he used to buy art from the Golden Age of Illustration that he’s building a museum for-that’s a good thing. ILM started a new industry that opened up new fields in computers, graphics etc…another good thing. George shouldn’t get near a typewriter again or a camera but he did have a big impact on many things. R2 and C3PO were like Laurel & Hardy…is that racist?

    Good rant. When I saw the header I was expecting a rant about how the Republicans are a bunch of sorry *sshats. 😡

  22. Small town Nebraska, 1977. This kid waited in line for two showings to get into the theatre for us to see it. I think I paid around a dollar for it.

    While not a fanatic, I recognize good entertainment when you want to embrace the fact that you want to be entertained.

    Think about it.

  28. Star Wars really is quite stupid if you think about it. I mean, the empire basically being beaten by a bunch of Kuala bears. That’s basically it. You have an empire that can destroy a whole planet, and in the end their downfall is losing to a bunch of teddybear looking creatures beating them with sticks and rocks. How FAKE can you get?

    @G. Red dwarf is quite possibly the best visual sleep aid ever.
    I can watch that show for hours. Well, I can turn it on for hours. I usually fall asleep after about 60 seconds. Best BBC show ever.
