  1. His audition on America’s Got Talent gave him big time exposure.

He did a cover of Sia’s Chandelier.

I had heard of Sia before, but wasn’t familiar with any of her songs.

So I checked out her own production of that song.

His audition is much better. I wouldn’t have known the words she was singing if I hadn’t heard him first. Frankly, hers sounds like a mess by comparison.

For the long term, not so sure how much of him can be taken. His draw is the shock value, The “Oh My! I didn’t expect this!”

That wears off a bit quickly and you’re left with the same thing you get actors when you want to go see him/her play a role you’re familiar with.

Maybe more like Pickin’ On doing covers of every thing in bluegrass style. You haven’t heard of Pickin’ On? Here they do a cover of Layla. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpIBYVyuJ7U

I’m guessing he’ll become a well known but limited celebrity. In a Tiny Tim kind of way.

  2. I came across Puddles a few months ago while watching “Postmodern Jukebox” videos on YouTube. This very talented group does interesting, jazzy twists on a variety of songs. One day Puddles joins them to sing “Royals” and 20 million views later, he’s still going strong. Out of Atlanta, the YouTube notoriety has lead to touring in Canada, Europe, Australia, etc. I enjoy this persona of the actor / singer Big Mike Geier and hope the best for him in what must be a very tough business.

  3. Watched Puddles on America’s Got Talent. Great talent and performance. Also, shrewd character choice. Clowns always get a reaction – positive or negative.
