I’m thinking that Zucker is less a leftwing prog and more of a media whore who will take any position providing there’s a nice bag of cash waiting for him. He was hired to improve CNN’s rating and hence it’s profitability. He is a Hollywood whore that managed to drive NBC from first to fourth in the time he helmed them however for a long time he was a wonder child in entertainment. I suspect he realized that his masters were limo lefty’s and tailored his approach acordingly moving CNN hard left and losing any remaining respect the firm had for the truth in the process.
