Breitbart: The left-leaning Politico website has taken a potshot at white southern Christians in an insulting new cartoon depicting believers as stupid and still yearning for the secession of the south.
In the vignette, an overweight white Christian in a cowboy hat, sporting a shirt made of the Confederate flag, thanks God for sending “angels” to save his family from Hurricane Harvey. A member of the rescue team corrects the man, telling him, “Er, actually Coast Guard… sent by the government.”
Politico chose to run the cartoon by Matt Wuerker just as countless southerners, many of whom are devout Christians, are trying to salvage their homes and lives from the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey, which has caused unprecedented damage including more than two dozen deaths and 30,000 displaced persons.
Politico yanked a Tweet of the offensive vignette after a number of people complained of the site’s blatant anti-Christian bigotry. MORE
What? No Shotgun? What God-fearing Texas secessionist wouldn’t insist on having his shotgun by his side?
Politico is slipping in their efforts to promote narrow minded racist stereotypes.
Ha ha ha!
How did he do during Hurricane Katrina?
Devout Blacks praising Hanuman for herding them into the Superdome to be robbed, raped, and murdered?
Ha ha ha! Racists sure are funny!
izlamo delenda est …
Sent by PRESIDENT TRUMP. Eat it.
This is the elitist view–and given that there is a tire floating by, I’m surprised the cartoonist didn’t misspell secede to make them look even more ignorant.
Truth is The Basket Guy … Would Probably Be Rescuing People in His Own Boat ! What If It Had Been A Flooding Of Deerborn ? I’m Sure His Beloved Highly Religious Muslim Would Have Been Super Brotherly, They Might Even Push a Neighbour In’to The Rescue Boat… Motor !!!
The despicable Left hates America.
It’s their only identity. It’s what they do.
Their twisted cowardly all consuming hate is all they have.
Politico and HEBDO are Leftists together.
The good news is, neither has much of a readership.
A quick analysis to illustrate (see what I did there) the stupidity of this cartoonist:
Actually if the “Redneck” is a conservative Christian he would adhere to the principles of the Constitution whereby the U.S. Government provides for the national defense. The Coast Guard is part of the U.S. Military and is fulfilling their obligation under the constitution. Hence the idiot cartoonist has it wrong thinking the “Redneck” a hypocrite.
In addition, the typical “Redneck” has reverence for the military and may have even served himself, hence the reference “Angels sent by God!” The cartoonist unintentionally gets it right for the wrong reasons.
By the way, it is California most recently in the news promulgating secession because of Hillary’s lost, not Texas.
lost = loss
I’m an ex-coastie who saved lives but also believes that angels are sent by God. Please don’t tread on me.
I imagine that a good many Coasties and other rescue workers, if asked the right way, might agree that they are indeed doing God’s work, and are agents (if not angels) of the Lord.
Forgot to draw the blacks and Mexicans drowning in the background and being ignored.
Nice !
God gives you a gift and you use it to mock his followers. I hope it ends well for you !
What a person considers ‘funny’ reveals their soul.
No one here didn’t already know that leftists are evil and a danger to be around.
The trash runs deep in Wuerker’s soul. Hope his defective genes weren’t passed on to tarnish the human race any further.
Obviously this turd has never even been to Texas. When it’s your turn to be rescued from your mother’s basement, I hope no one comes. Karma’s a bitch.
more politi-caca from idjuts. Matt why don’t ya come on down to Texas. We would like to have a little chat with ya.
Houston is the seat of Harris County, TX, which voted 54% democrat in the last election. The fucking stupid democrat controlled LSM is about to lower that percentage considerably if they keep spreading stupid ass memes like this. Christ, is there anything fucking stupider and slimier than a political cartoonist?
So much of this crap can be traced directly back to George Soros and members of his family that follow in dad’s footstps. Imagine the change if he and the others associated with him were arrested or otherwise stopped and their fortune seized. No more money for Antifa, no more money for web sites like Politico, no more money for university protest groups, no more money for those seeking to destroy the fabric of the republic and democracy in general. Yep, a tragic accident on a family vacation for the Soros’s and this political and social battlefield will calm right down.
California is further along in the Calexit movement than Texas is, isn’t it?
Next time they have a drought, can someone cartoonize me being stingy with my piss as they are dying of thirst?
Not to minimize the efforts of the Coast Guard, but thousands of people were rescued by private citizens, including people of all colors as rescuers and rescuees. Thousands of other people found their own way to safety. Government assistance was very helpful and the Trump administration acted quickly and preemptively, but the Texas people did pretty well on their own.
This was a major disaster, but so far the death toll is less than 100. In many other parts of the world, hundreds or thousands of people would have died in a similar hurricane. This idiot cartoonist, in addition to trying to denigrate rednecks, is also trying to convey the idea that only the government can cope during a disaster. Wrong on both counts.
My soon to be son in law is a Coastie – he was sent to Houston from Clearwater, FL & has plucked over 35 citizens from the water. He is an angel from Heaven. God is good.
It’s not just him. Some vile creature named Daryl Cagle published a nearly identical one, and our local liberal rag ran it on the opinion page. Pretty tone deaf if you ask me, even though we’re in the center of the Midwest, almost everyone around here has relatives or friends living in the area who have been affected. Way to go libs, keep living in your bubble and alienating regular Americans.
