15 Soldiers Injured at Fort Bragg Explosion

It was also not clear what caused the explosion.

The incident at Fort Bragg comes just a day after a vehicle fire at Camp Pendleton in California left 15 Marines injured — eight of them in the burn unit — following a training exercise accident.

  1. pushy, my opinion is that obama brought our military to a new low

assets run into the ground with no proper maintenance, lack of training, reduced manning but with same optempo, over stressed troops, using our military for social experimentation, etc

i put a great deal of what is happening to our ships at sea etc on the past 8 years of military loathing

things will get better under trump / mattis but this type of damage takes time to turn around

in the meantime, god bless the young men and women who have still signed up to defend the usa that they want back

  2. Although Barky greatly accelerated the trend, the pussification/politicization of the military has been going on for a very long time. My late father (USNA 1942) retired after only 22 years in large part because he had lost all confidence in the senior officers of the USN. He said more than once that those making the important decisions had become focused on self-promotion in an atmosphere dominated by internal politics and subservience to politicians and bureaucrats. And he was aware of this situation as far back as when he was a submarine skipper in WWII.

He was a speculative/science fiction fan, and I well remember one telling moment when I had recommended a book to him and after reading a few chapters handed it back to me saying, “There’s too much of the old Navy crap in the way that spaceship was run for me to enjoy the rest of the story.” That was 40 or 45 years ago.

  3. Uncle Al,
When dealing with just everyday things (non-military) we, who are gray, see the same. Fortunately there are still some good men and contractors who are responsible and perform to good standards. Unfortunately they are much fewer and far between over the decades.

  4. This will be with us for a while. The military was pretty shaky during Reagan s first two years. Lebanon was a complete cluster. I remember a lot of worrying before the invasion of Grenada whether Carter’s army or Reagan’s army would show up. Thankfully, Reagan’s army showed up.

  5. @Plain Jane – You are absolutely right. There are many fine and honorable people who are part of the armed forces and their suppliers. It’s the bosses and executives who all too frequently are contemptible, and fecal matter responds to gravity.

  6. TO “:”

It doesn’t cost a penny – though a bit of time – to get the degenerates out of the DoD staff/admin and subsequently out of the troops. BUT FIRST IT HAS TO BEGIN. *THEN* we can talk about “building the finest weapons” etc etc….
