NASCAR Owners Threaten To Fire Drivers Who Protest The National Anthem

DC: NASCAR owners threatened to fire drivers and other team members who might protest the national anthem.

The Associated Press broke the news Sunday afternoon during the NASCAR Cup series race in Loudon, New Hampshire.

The AP reported in part:

Richard Childress, who was Dale Earnhardt’s longtime team owner, said of protesting, “It’ll get you a ride on a Greyhound bus.” Childress says he told his team that “anybody that works for me should respect the country we live in. So many people gave their lives for it. This is America.”

Hall of Fame driver Richard Petty’s sentiments took it a step further, saying: “Anybody that don’t stand up for the anthem oughta be out of the country. Period. What got ’em where they’re at? The United States.”

When asked if a protester at Richard Petty Motorsports would be fired, he said, “You’re right.”

  1. That’s because NASCAR knows that the majority of racing fans are also the ones turning off NFL games on Sunday’s because of the bullshit. I applaud them for coming out and making the rule crystal clear. Not that I would be expecting many NASCAR employees to be liberal activists anyhow since libs love to mock car racing fans.

  2. That statement wasn’t meant ONLY for drivers, but everyone on the payroll. If you were to look under the helmets of the pit crews you’ll see a lot of pro athletes of various colors and a shit load of them that didn’t make the cut in the NFL that have speed and strength and agility.

  3. This is why the progressives have to attack NASCAR and it’s fans at every turn. If it’s true that Earnhardt Jr is supporting the NFL protestors then he’s going to be a very lonely man.
