President Donald Trump announced his selection of Alex Azar as the new nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services to replace Tom Price.
“Happy to announce, I am nominating Alex Azar to be the next HHS Secretary,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “He will be a star for better healthcare and lower drug prices!”
Price resigned from the position in September after reports uncovered several expensive noncommercial flights that he took at taxpayer expense.
Azar appears to be an establishment candidate, serving as Deputy Secretary during George W. Bush administration in the Health and Human Services Department. He also served on the board of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, a drug industry lobby, and worked for pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly
He also previously clerked for Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, according to Bloomberg News. [details at this link]
Hard to drain the swamp when you are busy filling it with swamp creatures!
From what I’ve been able to read about Azar, I am cautiously optimistic. He has a very good background for the job and sounds like a bit a pit bull as regards his views of drug pricing (even though he was on the board(?) of a large pharma co.).
Mr. Trump, abolish this department that has NO CONSTITUTIONAL BASIS. The ONLY way to drain the swamp is to eliminate BS departments like HHS, Education, Energy and HUD.

Who the fuck is advising Trump and why haven’t they been shot. I’m beginning to lose respect for Trump who for a savvy businessman is making personel mistakes that a Swing Managager at McDonalds wouldn’t make. Make no mistake this guy is going to slow walk any initiatives Trump asigns him to cleanup HHS and then stab him in the back when the time is right. Is there nobody he can trust for advice?
I’m starting to lose all hope that any of the swamp will be drained.
