You come home from a hard day of work and want to go out and relax, but you look over at your faithful companion and just can’t bare the thought of leaving him all alone again.
So, what do you do?
Well, Wisconsin has an idea that might be worth spreading around the country.
SUAMICO – A bar where dogs can bring their humans will open this summer in Urban Edge shopping center.
“I’ve wanted to do something like this for a very long time,” said owner Tara Brunette. “I’m a huge fan of different kinds of beer and dogs.”
Bark & Brew will be on the east end of the building that is home to The Gutter bowling alley in Urban Edge shopping center. A fenced dog park is adjacent to that end of the building.
A July 22 opening date is the goal.
As Brunette explains it, the establishment will have a menu of dog drinks and treats and a well-provided bar for their humans. People food cannot be prepared on site because of health codes, but food can be brought in.
“We have a full-blown bar that has eight specialty drinks we created from scratch, the local favorite domestic beers and 20 to 30 bottled craft beers,” Brunette said. “Anything brewed in the Green Bay area, I will carry.”
Included on the human side of the menu will be detox water, soda and standard liquor.
The dog menu will include carrots with dip, watermelon, liver brownie bites, frozen yogurt with a dog bone as garnish, and Bowser Beer, which looks like beer, but is nonalcoholic and comes in beef, chicken and pork flavors. Water stations will be placed throughout, as well.
We’ve tested them on my dogs. We’ve done taste panels with friends’ dogs,” Brunette said of menu treats.
The treats are made of real food, so could be consumed by humans, if they were so inclined.
Now your real best friend can be your wing man. If guys can’t strike up a conversation with a woman at a bar with her dog, he’s got no game.

What a neat idea! I hope it catches on in other places.
Great Idea, but you need to make the People feel as Special as the Dog’s or it will lose it’s People. The Dog’s will be back for sure !!!
“The treats are made of real foods could be consumed by human, if they were so inclined”….HUH????….Gimme my back deck with grilled ribeye’s where the dog gets the scraps and tennis ball chafed lips…..
Not the town I expected
Bar fights will have an interesting added dimension! 😁
Let’s see, girly boys, lesbo girls, and a fuckwhack full of poodles?
What could go wrong?
Dogs have been allowed in bars forever. Willie even wrote about it.

I have NEVER taken a dog to a bar.
…But I have left with a few.
😉
Ahhh yesss, bar dogs.
Leave with Lassie, wake up with Cujo.
This is dog crazy state.
Every other business in town has a dog or two come greet you with a crotch sniff. The carpenters and contract workers all take their dogs to the work site with them. Which is fine except some of the owners are irresponsible and let their dogs run while their working.
I have a favorite brewery/restaurant where dogs are welcome on the patio area. Of course, dogs can’t go inside the dinning area but, the outside patio is well covered, with fans and large TVs. And waitresses ADORE little dogs! 😉
I wouldn’t call it a bar, it’s more like a tasting room. I bring my dogs there every now and then. There’s a dog academy next door in the same building, dogs are always laying around.
I wonder if Michael Vick will become a regular.
I can imagine the beer names:
Dog Breath
Lick Yourself
Red Rocket
The Carpet Scooter
Anon, don’t forget Old Yeller.
