Mitt Romney was treated for prostate cancer last summer

NBC- Mitt Romney — who is said to be eyeing a bid for U.S. Senate from Utah — was treated last summer for prostate cancer, two sources close to the former presidential candidate told NBC News Monday.

Romney’s treatment, which involved surgery at the University of California-Irvine Medical Center, was successful, and he has a good prognosis, the sources said.

“Last year, Governor Mitt Romney was diagnosed with slow-growing prostate cancer,” an aide to Romney told NBC News. “The cancer was removed surgically and found not to have spread beyond the prostate.”

News of Romney’s cancer treatment was first reported by CNN.

Romney is said to be seriously considering running for the Senate seat being vacated by Utah Republican Orrin Hatch, who announced last week he would retire at the end of his term this year.  read more

  1. My uncle had his prostate removed in his mid 70’s. He is now 92 and still very healthy, alert and active. There are plenty of more legitimate reasons to not vote for Bro. Mittens.

Why is CNN pushing this story anyway? Mitt isn’t running for President and its no like there is any chance for a Democrat winning a Senate seat in Utah. Mitt is the next best thing to an actual Democrat, so they ought to be lauding his greatness.

  2. They like to point out every little medical problem of republicans to detract attention from the fact that nearly the entire elected assembly of democrats are functionally retarded.

  3. My dad told me at least 20 years ago that he had been diagnosed with slow prostate cancer and was considering surgery. He never had the surgery, of course monitors regularly, and as his doctor has said will never die of prostate cancer.

  4. @Left Coast Dan: Sounds very familiar. A doctor once told me that if a man lives long enough, sooner or later he will develop prostate cancer, that but in most cases it will occur so late in life that he is more likely to die WITH it than OF it.

  5. I’m curious why he didn’t seek treatment at one of those lauded Massachusetts hospitals?
Wouldn’t he be covered by both obolacare and Romneydon’tcare???

My regard for him went from fairly high to disdainfully LOW, the more I observe him.

  6. The MSM is desperately hyping ANYTHING to distract from the DoJ reopening the criminal investigation into the Illegal Unauthorized Federally Prohibited Secret Unsecured Corruption/Bribery/Espionage Email Server, run by the Smartest Best Qualified Female Candidate Evah.

  7. That should help end his thoughts of running for Senator. Regardless of the outcome of his treatment he still will be thought of as having cancer and could relapse at any moment. It may not be totally accurate but I suspect a lot of people will look at Romney, think of McCain and pull the lever for a different nomination candidate.
