Breitbart: Billionaire Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has announced that he will be donating $33 million to create college scholarships for 1,000 DREAMers — illegal immigrants brought into America by their parents.
Politico reports that Bezos, the billionaire CEO of e-commerce giant Amazon and owner of the Washington Post, will be donating $33 million alongside his wife MacKenzie Bezos to create college scholarships for illegal immigrant DREAMers. Bezos donation is being made to TheDream.US, a nonprofit group founded by the former owner of the Washington Post, Don Graham. According to TheDream.US website, the group is “working to help over 4,000 highly motivated DREAMers graduate from college with career-ready degrees. DREAMers are immigrant youth who came to this country at a very young age without documentation.”
Bezos donation is expected to cover scholarships for approximately 1,000 illegal immigrants who are currently still in the country under the Obama-era DACA policy. Bezos himself is the son of a legal immigrant, the Amazon CEO’s father arrived in the United States from Cuba at the age of 16. Bezos commented on his donation to TheDream.US saying “MacKenzie and I are honored to be able to help today’s Dreamers by funding these scholarships.”
As the “Dreamers” as they’re known, are illegal immigrants, they are not eligible to receive financial aid from the federal government, TheDream.US aims to offer these students up to $33,000 in financial aid spread over four years of college study. Currently, the nonprofit group is funding approximately 2,840 illegal immigrants to study in the United States. Bezos has joined 100 CEO’s, including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Apple CEO Tim Cook, in signing an open letter to the government requesting an extension for DACA. read more

I wish everybody would stop calling them “Dreamers,” illegal aliens is the proper term.
Um, just for clarity sake, so-called “Dreamers” aren’t here illegally. They were given authorization by obama to be here. If you’re going to blame anyone, blame him. So, if Bezos and others want to fund them I guess I say “so what?” I’d rather someone throw their private dollars at them than the gov’t, and they become productive members of society if they are ever granted a path to citizenship. In the meantime they can pay taxes based on living wage jobs. I also hope that there are some restrictions on the types of degrees that are funded, like STEM-based education.
POTUS Trump needs to work on supporting legislation that taxes regular, out-of-country, money transfers; where it can be confirmed that a Dreamer (or any illegal) is sending back their paycheck to their home country. Those wages should stay in our economy, helping our people.
One other thing: companies who exploit non-citizen status, like “Dreamers”, by paying them less than the going rate, should face heavy penalties, fines and NEVER receive gov’t contracts. Because that is one of the biggest motivations for companies to support things like DACA and amnesty. Take the incentive away and we’ll stop seeing so much of this bias for foreign workers.

Bezos is fast becoming the american George Soros. He bought the Washington Post and almost immediately the paper went even more left in reporting and editorials as if that were even possible. While Amazon has showed brilliant innovation people seem to forget that it cost hundreds of thousands of jobs because Bezos guessed correctly that people would rather shop from their couch then go out into the world and that is truly a shame. For those that figure he’s added good jobs, he’s added back very few unless you count warehouse/shipping jobs as good, they are honest but “good”, not so much. He is a very dangerous man perhaps even more so then Sergey Brin from Google or Mark Zuckerburg from Facebook.
So many lower income U.S. citizens could have benefited from this but Besos had to prove a point I say great Amazon like Target .
