  1. Last of the WWII generation. They never took a knee.

Reminds me when my Dad (WWII pacific vet) was in the hospital before he passed.
There was a Filipino nurse (who was a citizen) in his room and he made her say the Pledge of Allegiance at the foot of his bed before he would allow her administer his medication.
He just wanted to make sure she was American.

  2. As a member of the establishment republican party, Bob Dole has withheld any criticism of President Trump, and for that and his military service I salute him. i wish I could say the same for the despicable Bushes.

  3. What makes it all the more amazing is that Dole was severely wounded in a completely unnecessary assault in Italy which took place on April 14, 1945. Half of Dole’s battalion was killed or wounded in an attack on some mountain stronghold in Northern Italy. Meanwhile, 2 days later, the Red Army was in the outskirts of Berlin. What was the point?

And yet Dole never once complained about this although he did speak of the anger he felt at seeing scores of Americans being killed and wounded all at once due lethal mortar fire. Apparently the brass completed underestimated the strength of the German defenses.

Dole, BTW, was a great physical specimen before he was wounded. He could conceivably have played in the NFL. So the guy who was robbed of this opportunity stands and the punks who have been given everything their whole lives kneel. Good thing they have no shame, or this would really get to them

  4. I love me some Bob Dole for the simple fact that he helped draft the Medicare Hospice Benefit. When my hospice families ask me what it costs, I tell them they’ve prepaid for it with their tax dollars and to send Mr Dole a thank you note.

Strangely enough, it’s the most generous Medicare benefit these days. Nothing like incentivizing people to stop pursuing curative treatment. Methinks there was some truth to Sarah Palin’s theory on Death Panels.
