The USS Little Rock has been trapped in Canadian ice since Christmas Eve

FOX: A brand-new U.S. Navy warship has not moved from Montreal since Christmas Eve and will spend the winter stuck in Canada due to cold and ice.

The USS Little Rock – unveiled in a ceremony on Dec. 16 in Buffalo, New York and attended by nearly 9,000 people – has not moved far since due to adverse weather conditions that kept the warship trapped at bay in Canada, the Toronto Star reported.

The warship known as a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) cost $440 million to build and stretches 387 feet in length and weighs 15 tons more than the Statue of Liberty. It is capable of traveling more than 46 miles per hour.

Such combat ships are described as agile and designed for rapid transitions between missions with minimal manning. They are used for surface warfare, counter piracy and drug operations, as well as other first response missions.  more here

  1. Whose brilliant idea was it to send a ship made of tinfoil into some of the iciest waters on earth? The Russians are laughing their asses off. They don’t have to worry about our toy boats in the Baltic during Winter. But this will be Trump’s fault, I guess.

  2. We just Netflixed an indie documentary on the Northwest Passage called POLAR SEA. Excellent. 10 episodes, following a series of private boats trying to sail across Canada from Atlantic to Pacific during the (theoretical) new summer melt.
Premise begins accepting Gobal Warming PC, but soon it’s obvious the Poles aren’t actually melting and wild swings in cyclic temperatures just within the last 150 years.

Great series and great for awakening Lefty friends from their Global Warming mythology.

  3. We’ve already had to have the ice cutters free ships and break up ice jams here on the St.Clair River (Mich) several times this year. This normally doesn’t happen until March or April. Must be global warming making all the ice.
