DC: Former Miss America winner and attorney Erika Harold won the Republican primary for Illinois attorney general Tuesday night.
Harold, who won the Miss America title in 2003, defeated attorney Gary Grasso for the nomination and will now take on the winner of the Democratic primary, former Gov. Pat Quinn. Raoul. The win comes after the Illinois Republican Party endorsed Harold and received campaign money from Illinois Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner, Fox News reported.
The Harvard Law School graduate said during her campaign that she wants to offer a bipartisan approach to criminal justice reform and stand up to political corruption.
Harold sent out two tweets after the race was called, thanking her supporters for their “unwavering support” and saying their “work is just beginning.” MORE
She’s part black and, clutch the pearls, Native American! Very similar to Elizabeth Warren. The left must be besides themselves!
“Bipartisan” in Illinois means Democrat or…Democrat. Good luck with that. I hope someone can educate her on the importance of conservative principles; maybe she can be persuaded out of becoming a part of the Uniparty.
Beautiful and Harvard law school graduate and AG; nice going young lady.
I think she will win the swimsuit portion of the general election handily, but the talent portion will be more difficult because Chicago Democrats have rigged the system.
Going against Quinn. Uggghhh. Madigan, the Dem speaker of the house in Illinois, runs the state and Quinn was his puppet as governor before Rauner. Madigan’s daughter, Lisa is the Attorney General who chose not to run again last September. Lots of speculation about what she has her eye on in the future — Mayor of Chicago? future run for Governor? Some say she just did not want to be around to have to clean up the fiscal mess this state is in. I would think the politics in this state would be fun to watch if I didn’t live here. I wish Erika all the best and feel she will do a good job if she wins.
Finally did my research before voting yesterday in Illinois. Grasso seamed to be the better candidate over the beauty queen. The dems have a stranglehold on this state and I liked Grasso’s positions, along with Ives. Not that it would amount to anything. Mike Madigan has to go. But, good luck with that until the good Lord takes him. Lisa Madigan is no fool. Run away and let the chips fall. Plan for tomorrow. Doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
She flipped on an important (not critical, but important) conservative view; she changed from being against same sex adoption and foster care to being for them. Her change came as a result of simply being asked questions about her views on them. Is the gay/lesbian population in IL that big?
Don’t hold out hope she’s a Trump supporter. I’m detecting a Bush style blossomimg progressive RINO. Speaking as a Illinoisan born and raised.
“Is the gay/lesbian population in IL that big?”
No, but the criminal, democrat (Chicago originated-see Daley) political machine that promotes LGBTQ etc. is behemoth.
