Toby the cat was surrendered to a shelter by his owners who no longer wanted the feline. In a heroic show of loyalty, Toby escaped the shelter and walked twelve miles back to his North Carolina home. His old owners immediately took him in then drove him to back to the shelter and asked he be euthanized. More

I’m glad the jerks didn’t keep Toby. Toby has won.. …big! …Lady in Red
I got my buddy in a similar fashion. Neighbor told me he was taking cat to country because he had fleas real bad. Coaxed the cat into my house, took him to vet for flea treatment and shots. Found out he is FIV positive. Went thru many sleepless nights with him crying to go outside. He’s now a very content housecat and loves belly rubs. Hope he outlasts me because it’ll be difficult if he doesn’t. He’s also an idiot but oh well!
How can you be so heartless, the poor cat walks 12 miles to get back home and you want it put down? What is wrong with some people?
This just breaks my heart. I have decided no more critters after Zoe died, but I would have taken him in.
Glad he is with a loving family.
Oh dude! Nothing against cats- just allergies. But even I would have taken him. <3
Nice repayment of love and loyalty… assholes.
These (adjectives fail me) individuals make me sick. I include here the hamster flusher. Lowlifes like them are not worthy of the pet they callously discarded.
Rot in Hell, heartless scum. God hates you and I do too.
This sort of behavior must be a consequence of today’s instant gratification, one-use, disposable product, abortion-ridden society.
I am so glad the cat has a new home where it will be appreciated.
Certainly it has more loyalty than its former owners. Sadly, that loyalty was misplaced.
…Upon reflection I must admit I don’t know for sure that God hates them.
But I do.
“This cat is too loyal, he keeps coming back home.
So would you kill him for us?”
Jeebus. My mind boggles.
Probably friends of the Clintons.
I got a cat in Dec after my cat Eve Online died. She was a rescue of sorts. Special needs daughter in the home who would not leave her be and a Chihuahua. Poorly nourished to the point it affected her eyes. They look like Riddick’s but don’t affect her vision. She has become a most loyal cat. Follows us everywhere. Smart too.
Poor Toby was loyal.

Normal people love their pets and don’t do that. The poor critters don’t understand when they are abandoned.
I love mine so much (two cats, and previously dogs), that I think I would take a bullet for them if I had to. If we view them as family members, why not protect them to an extreme extent?
Maybe my feeling is misplaced, but that is how it is with me.
@scr_north- Thanks for that. I really enjoyed it, especially the animation. I never heard the song before.
Some good animation also at Simon’s Cat which captures cat behavior quite well. The creators have managed to convey a lot with minimalist drawings, few effects, and no dialog.

Works for me.
Take critters over most “humans.” But that’s just me.
Swore no more after the last pup had to be put down, as I can’t stand losing them and the wife and daughter got two more rescue dogs against my wishes. Now I dread the day of losing those…

Well, if there is no God, we’re it; the pinnacle of evolution. Thus, anything we wish to do is moral and correct.
We just had to put down my parents cat Fred, Fred adopted them about 16 or 17 years ago by stopping on their back slider meowing to be let in. My parents didn’t have any animals then so they took him in and he lived with them till they were both gone from the house. Fred was a small black and white Tuxedo cat who was my dad’s favorite as well as my mom. When my dad died a couple of months Fred was lost and would sleep in his chair looking for him. We finally had to put him down a week or so ago after my mom was placed in a care facility, he was old, very skinny, going deaf and it was time for him to go peacefully. I also caught hell from my mom last fall for forgetting to get cat food when I came back from the store with their grocery’s and no cat food, I ended up making an extra trip back to the store to get cat food. My mom with her dementia was also hiding the cat food, I couldn’t figure out where the fresh bag of cat food for Fred went since it was gone the next day but the cat bowl was full. It took me a while to figure our where she was squirreling it away, it was driving me nuts until one day I finally found it hidden a large popcorn tin in a back closet. RIP Fred, we all miss you, the kids, grandkids etc. for gracing my parents life in their old age for many years.
@geoff, Fred probably had kidney failure if he was getting skinny. Best thing to put him down. It’s painful for them.
Our cat Mr.Skeakers {his meower was broke}
so he squeaked. He was by Carolyn’s side the
entire 2 years she fought stage 4 melanoma.
About a year later he lost his battle with
cancer.
Am in total agreement with everyone here. We’ve had 6 indoor cats over the years (down to 1) and a outside family of 3 that had adopted us (Mom and sonny-boy are departed, sister remains with us and stayed on our enclosed back porch during the last 3 winters). We would NEVER consider doing what these morons did. I wish them great punishment for such vile actions.
Took the cat to the shelter, cat came back, now want the cat euthanized. Can we do that with illegal aliens? Deport them, if they come back, euthanize them.
Here’s a song from when I was a yoot back in the 50’s.
The people who did this to the cat should be euthanized.

All you cat morons can take a flying leap at a flagpole. It’s a fucking cat. Just a fucking cat. You people need to get a life. If your so interested, come and scrape the road-kill around here. Take it home and make a pet out of that. What a bunch of fucking morons.
Hey, uh, Felix. You got that stick up your pussy pretty deep, huh?
That was a seriously demented outburst.
Felix might be the guy sitting on stage with that miserable POS from Fresno.
I found a little kitten on the side of a country highway 6 months ago. severely dehydrated and barely able to move. One eyeball was outside of the socket and totally crusted over. Took my little guy to the vet and got his strength up to where he became my best bud for a week. He would follow me everywhere in my house.
On day 9 he was ready for surgery to remove his eye.
He went into cardiac arrest during surgery. They brought him back, but he died overnight at the vet.
It broke my heart. 9 days was all it took.
His name was Jack and I miss him.
joe6pak- LOL. So gross.
I would NEVER abandon my cat, or any pet for that matter. I consider it a lifelong commitment, to be terminated only upon death.
The pain at separation is the price one must pay for the pleasure they provided over the years.
Love them while you can, they will be gone all too soon.
Cats will be cats. They aren’t for everyone. They are more reserved than dogs and not as eager to please. They are more likely to please themselves. With some justice a dog owner might be considered the “master”. Such a relationship is patently ludicrous with a cat.
But they are cuddlier than fish and less flighty than birds. Amusing at play and serene when resting. Not as effective an intruder alert as the average dog, but not nearly as likely to dig up the yard or maul the neighbors. Less trouble than ferrets, and less annoying than little yappy dogs. More affectionate than reptiles, not as creepy or fragile as small rodents. (Harder to flush, too.)
Not sure how they compare to hedgehogs but I imagine cats are the better pet.
“Well, if there is no God, we’re it; the pinnacle of evolution. Thus, anything we wish to do is moral and correct.”
Yep. The atheist may not admit it but if there is no God, there is still a god.
That god is Self.
They may not consider Self a god per se, but it’s the next best thing in His absence and, anyway, ends up making all the calls that would be in God’s purview. That’s how mountains of skulls are built and infant skulls crushed by people who then go out for a beer.
MJA, wasn’t that just the worst collection of human debris you could find? I still can’t get over them.
Eat shit and die Felix you sick fuck. Nobody here likes you.
Hey Felix the rat fuck, I remember reading about people like you that show no empathy for God’s creatures. Google Jeffrey Dahmer and all the other sick fucks. I think you’ll find some similarities. Dumb ass. Sorry you’re such a miserable fuck!

Felix is a terrible name for a guy that apparently hates cats.

Yep, it seems like the worst of the worst are those that torture small animals that can’t fight back, like Dahmer and the sicko that shot up Parkland HS.
“Yep, it seems like the worst of the worst are those that torture small animals that can’t fight back, like Dahmer and the sicko that shot up Parkland HS.”
They also are, fairly often, homosexual.
And serial killers.
The guy that shot up the small texas towns church was also an animal torturer. Beat his wife too {sign of repressed homosexuality} They all share the same traits. Just like Felix
Sorry for the Cat but this story reminded me of a Muppets show skit called “the cat came back” seems some cats do have nine lives!
Yesterday, I took the outdoor cat that adopted me to get shots and chipped. Ninja Kitty!
The people there were talking about the usual use of the chip: “If you lose her, a vet can…”
I laughed and stopped them in mid sentence. ‘She’s been hanging around outside for 6 years, won’t come in and and won’t go away. Losing then finding her is not a concern of mine. I just need the chip in her because I bought a Sure Feed for her to keep the other neighborhood cats from eating her food.’
It works. The interlopers have dwindled down to one getting-skinnier tabby.
The feeder came with an RFID tag you can put on a collar if your pet isn’t chipped. That worked flawlessly until she didn’t have the collar on her any more 6 weeks later. Now it’s programmed to her own chip under her skin.
Pricey, IMO, but worth it if it keeps working for at least two years.
