Waffle House Shooting: Police Say Suspect Is in Custody

NYTs

The police said Monday they had arrested a suspect in the killing of four people at a Waffle House in Nashville, ending a wide search that had unnerved one of the largest cities in the South.

About 160 law enforcement officials had been involved in the search for the suspect, Travis Reinking, 29, who officials said used an AR-15 rifle to carry out a rampage at a restaurant southeast of downtown on Sunday morning.

  1. Did his father actually return the guns that had been earlier confiscated from him in an earlier incident with police?

Glad they found the guy. Why were we all made to believe this was a “kid”?

  2. This whole thing stinks. He does the shooting at 3:15 AM. He leaves his car at the scene and the police had his name and address from the plate. He fled on foot and went directly to his apartment to re-arm and get clothes. It appears the police didn’t even think to go to his home until about 3 hours after the crime. They put dogs on the scent a couple of hours late, too. Once it started raining they lost the trail.

I expected the mayor to blame the gun, but I really think another part of the agenda is to cover some really sloppy police work.
