Our laptop Ad Supply ads are served to a single IP once every 4 hours.
They are not redirects, and they are not applets, and they do not load anything on your computer. If they do, send me the screenshots and the urls and we will complain to the ad company and have them removed. (I have asked others that emailed me to do the same and they always emailed me back that the problem was resolved. Usually it’s a cookies issue. I’ve never had a redirect, droplet or anything that “loads” on the computer sent to me by a reader on a laptop. There have been iPhone issues, but never a laptop issue.)
If you have your browser set to not accept cookies you’re going to get served pop unders (we do not have pop ups) every time you click something. Your browser should not be set up that way in 2018. Most sites monetizing try to limit the amount of ads the user gets by utilizing cookies.
That ad you’re talking about pays a whopping $450 a month.
We cannot remove $450 for the month from our monetization, if we do the site shuts down.

I use the internet too. I go to dozens and dozens of sites a day. I, too, am bothered by sites that have screens and ads that appear over the content and ask you to sign up or like them or whatever it is they need to do to keep them afloat. I click them off knowing it’s the price I have to pay for the content I’m reading.

There can also be quirks that happen with certain browsers that do not occur with other browsers. Try a different browser and see if that helps. There are solutions.
Autoplays on the pop unders have hit me before. One started blaring like an Amber alert even though I wasn’t using my phone.

They’re not our sponsors. I have nothing to do with them. We don’t make a nickel on anything we ever post as an article. A reader sent the post in and said he loved the shirt. I liked it, so we promoted it. I’m glad you liked it too, but it did not benefit me in any way other than making me smile knowing some people are pissing people off by wearing it.

That’s why you’re going to get more ads than you’re supposed to be seeing.

I use a laptop and I’m not having that experience. It’s hard for me to troubleshoot or explain a problem to the Ad Supply tech guys if they cannot replicate it on their end.
I know it’s a pain in the ass, but if you can screenshot the problem and send it to me, that helps. EVEN BETTER, a screen shot movie (on a mac it’s done in quicktime) of the entire fiasco, and that would be sent to the Ad Supply tech team.
When I click on something I will notice something happened (like a momentary heartbeat) and I know there is an ad underneath the window that I will see when I eventually close the iOTW window.
I routinely have multiple windows open, so I just let it sit there. It doesn’t do anything to just let it sit there. And I’m certainly not ever using the backspace button as part of navigating the site.
As Rat Fink said, and it’s the truth, we have 1000s of readers, all who use a different computer, or device, on different browsers in different locations. My goal is to make every reader’s experience as smooth as possible, and that goal is unattainable, yet I obsess over it, to the point where I exasperate the ad suppliers. They hate me.
I take every reader’s experience very seriously, my blogging friends know that and they shake their heads at me as if to say I’m being a fool (because they see how much it pains me.)
