California Political Review: As members of an alien caravan beat their fists at the gates, the experts provide the rationalization for inviting them in.
John Burnett wrote last week for National Public Radio, “four academic studies show that illegal immigration does not increase the prevalence of violent crime or drug and alcohol problems.” But Burnett curated studies that conflate much and misinform plenty.
My favorite among the four is Alex Nowrasteh’s Cato Institute study, because you could tell Burnett pulled it from the top of a pile he kept on hand for just such occasions, to convince Americans that the decay they’re witnessing in their communities is actually “cultural enrichment.”
The Cato study selectively sources data from the Texas Department of Public Safety (TDPS), and it notes that what we’re reading is the “[a]uthor’s analysis” of that data. In other words, Nowrasteh presents data in a way that suits his ends. Data analysts, like those in Cato’s salon, have an interest in producing specific results. Or as one data analyst says, “they know the results the analysis should find.”
Nowrasteh’s study claims that among 952 total homicides, “native-born Americans were convicted of 885 homicides,” while “illegal immigrants were convicted of just 51 homicides.” Setting aside the fact that those 51 killings — like all crimes committed by illegal aliens — were completely avoidable, a few other questions come to mind.
First, how many of those “native-born” convicted killers were anchor babies? That is, how many of those convicted killers have parents who entered the country illegally? How many arrived through chain immigration?
That is a fair question, considering Latino gangs recruit heavily from kids as young as 10 years old, and the fact many of these immigrants come from countries with some of the highest homicide rates in the world. more here
Heck, I just find the top line numbers “interesting”. 51 out of 952 homicides. We’ll skip all the other crimes. Some people just need killin’. But, unless the population is more than 5% ILLEGAL invaders (again, not counting their amnestied families) then those invaders are already KILLING more people than the fine, upstanding LEGAL killers. And, if the population is over 5% ILLEGAL, already, then you don’t really have a “legal” community population, do you?
Defund them and close it down.

First problem is that Nowrasteh counts only convictions out of the 1500 committed last year. The first thing an illegal alien does after killing someone is flee south of the border. Much of TX is less than 4 hours by car to the border, before homicide is rousted out of bed.
I read some time ago that immigrants (legal and illegal) commit nearly 40% of all Texas murders.

The murder of Kathryn Steinle on the Embarcadero in San Francisco by an illegal alien is the most familiar example of a crime committed by an alien. But an unreleased internal report by the Texas Department of Public Safety reveals that aliens have been involved in thousands of crimes in Texas alone, including nearly 3,000 homicides.
PJ Media obtained a never-before-released copy of a Texas DPS report on human smuggling containing the numbers of crimes committed by aliens in Texas. According to the analysis conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety, foreign aliens committed 611,234 unique crimes in Texas from 2008 to 2014, including thousands of homicides and sexual assaults.
Dividing 3000 by 6 (2008-2014) gives 500 homicides per year.
Maybe this genius can explain why violent crime is rampant in latino communities. The spillover alone from these areas has a huge impact on the crime numbers elsewhere.
I kind of think Texans would have preferred 51 less homicides, but I possibly could be mistaken, off the deep end, unable to understand reality, living in a dream world, or just an old fool set in my ways, etc.
