Warped Twisted Logic of the Left – Bloomberg Explains Why Taxing the Poor is Good

This is the most demented thing I’ve heard any lefty say, and the room gave it moderate applause.

  1. None of the people in that room gives a rat’s ass about the poor. Notice that no where did Bloomberg offer any suggestion about how to alleviate poverty; his schtick is about controlling people’s lives.

I’m Michael Bloomberg, and you’re my lackey.

  2. Even though I think Bloomberg embodies just about everything I don’t support…in this case, Bloomberg is right.

Everyone should pay taxes, as everyone shares in benefits from taxes being collected.

  3. First of all, the left is always trying to control people’s behavior. That’s what they’re all about. Secondly, they’ll fold themselves into pretzels of convoluted thinking to rationalize their policies.

  4. If you buy a gallon of gas, a burger, a pair of pants etc..you pay tax. Government finds that is a foolproof way of revenue collection. Flat tax and or Value added tax is the only fair tax.

The corruption occurs in the distribution of said revenues by government.

  5. I have no issue of the poor paying something in taxes. Everyone should have skin in the game. With nearly half of adults not paying federal income tax, it is unsustainable.

  6. Are these two trying to out-idiot one another?
If the poor are so miserable and dumb, why would Bloomberg want to prolong their lives?

Globalist Cruella Deville: the only certainties are taxes and death, so we want to use one to defer the other one.

Gawd. How much should I be taxed if I want to check out at 50, how much if I want to live forever?

@Joe B. In theory that’s true, except welfare recipients aren’t really paying those taxes. We are.

  7. Better yet, bring home those tens of millions of offshored jobs so poor people will have good jobs, won’t be poor no more and have money to pay taxes. Then people won’t be dependent on confiscated government handouts and the Democrat’s master/slave relationship to the peop – BANG!, Gurgle, Rosebud. Backspace, backspace, …

  8. WSJ had an article where Trump is considering upping tariffs on car from 2.5% up to 25%, depending on the country. That’s the largest single contributor ($150B/year) to America’s trade deficit and would bring back millions of good jobs to the economy.

  9. He’s not really talking about helping poor people live longer or about taxing the poor. What he’s really proposing is government control over everything we all eat and drink.
Just like Professor Cocteau in “Demolition Man” and in dictatorships.

  10. For the most part, gov’t’s a scam – a way to relieve you of your money.
Has been since the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
The “Great Experiment” in self-gov’t died in 1861.
And with the passages of the 16th and 17th it was buried permanently.

Seems no one learned anything from our mistakes – the world leaps into the abyss with cheering masses of mal-educated stooges. Once we agreed to murder our own children, we were lost (as a civilization, not as a nation).

  11. I’m not going to listen to anything that Bloomberg says but if he’s suggesting that EVERYONE should pay some amount of income tax I’m for it.

50% of people pay no income tax and demonize the 2% that pay most of it.

Everyone should have skin in the game – or not be allowed to vote.

  12. Bloomberg is not talking about “skin in the game” or income taxes. He is referring to specifically targeted taxes designed to induce some sort of behavior; in this clip it’s his extra tax on sugary drinks.

    4
  13. A flat tax is the way to go. Everyone has “skin in the game” as mentioned above. At that point, the poor may actually start to care about Gov’t spending.

  14. Yeah you do pay tax when you buy anything but the problem is, the ‘poor’ get a tax refund + plus, regardless. They raise food prices by adding a tax to sodas, chips, and dessert items, but they’ll also raise EBT dollar limits and then the non-poor are the ones soaked with paying extra tax through groceries and the IRS. This isn’t about poor people learning to eat or stay away from shit, this is about taxing everyone else.

  15. Well, I’d be more than happy to pay taxes on everything – if I get to do it with YOUR money! And that’s how welfare works. Yeah, they pay the “sales tax” – but with YOUR money. They’d also pay the VAT with YOUR money.

The whole mess if fucking stupid.
THAT’S why education sucks! To keep us too fucking stupid to figure shit out!

Oligarchs, Tyrants, Dictators, Parliaments, Socialism, Universal Suffrage – it’s all the same bullshit – over and over and over … they won’t leave you alone as long as you have even a single nickel in your pocket.

And they ain’t paying for beer and cigarettes (or the sales tax on em) – YOU ARE!
