Presented for Armchair Lawyers

If you don’t catch it, the old drunk spits at the bus driver. I’m not sure the spit hit, as the bus driver claims. Was he in within his rights to do what he does, even he was hit with spit in the face?

Continuing to hit an unconscious man is.. not cool.

  1. That guy wasn’t right to spit but he also is an old man and was drunk. And the reaction the driver had was totally out of proportion. As cliche as it sounds, serious anger issues.

And the jerks shouting “Get him” contributed.

  2. You spit on me you are going to get hit. Maybe several times. But I have to be careful because
I carry a rather large .357 magnum and I don’t want someone grabbing for it.
By the way I live in a rural area and have never ridden in a bus or taxi.

  3. Driver should lose his job and face charges. Great bodily harm or the threat of death was not imminent, so his beating was not justified.

Especially considering the old man was out at the first punch and he kept delivering punches to a defenseless person.

I will consider it a miscarriage of justice if the driver doesn’t pay any price for this savagery.

I suspect he thought he found his opportunity to take out his anger with white people.

Don’t be drunk in public. Don’t ride the bus. Don’t spit on people (especially people big enough to kick your ass – spitting on people is kind of a girly thing, anyway). Stay out of bad parts of town. Don’t be stupid – even if you’re born stupid, you don’t have to live stupid, but you may die stupid.

  5. Being drunk and stupid is a recipe for a severe ass kicking.
He earned it legitimately. He’s lucky that’s all he received.
Will he learn from this new educational experience?
    Unlikely, but it could happen.

  6. Don’t let your mouth cash checks your body can’t pay. Being drunk off your ass and calling some huge black guy who’s just trying to do his job a “nigger” over and over again is just asking for a beating. The driver did commit a crime, but that drunk was a stupid asshole. I feel sorry for the driver. He got goaded by some shitbag and is now likely to lose his job and some freedom, but he probably should’ve kept his cool better than that.

Why isn’t this sight holding onto my username and email info anymore?

  7. He “was’ standing by the door. Simple solution; Stop bus, open door, and ask the patron to please watch his step when dis-embarking the vehicle. If patron refuses, call 911 and wait for assistance; it’s only 10 minutes away. OR, open the door and kick his drunk ass to the fucking curb. Any lesson derived from getting his ass kicked, at that age will be useless.

  8. Can you imagine the shit the bus driver has to put up with all day from the public? I’ve worked with the public. This man was clearly the last straw in a full load for the driver, and he got what he deserved.
