Sorry Ladies, He’s Taken!

UPDATE:

Just in- the REAL cake topper-

Also, is there any superstition about a blogger prematurely saying the marriage happened a week before it did?

My friend Doug Wakeman (the picture above is one of the deplorable submissions) has fulfilled a longtime goal and has married his sweetheart _ _ _ _!

I’m not sure if I can divulge the name because she is a reader too, and like other couples that are on the site, sometimes they like to keep their relationship on the down low.

But I would just like to congratulate Doug and _ _ _ _, and say that I am very happy for them and if I ever get a chance to start traveling again I will mosey on by.

Here’s a heavily redacted picture of the couple, and just from this you can see one of the compatibility factors that make them such a great match.

  1. Well then. Congratulations, you have chosen to get married on my 47th wedding anniversary.

My advice, not that it was asked for, if you want it last: always remain committed to each other through the rough times (and there will be some), always be kind to each other, always be willing to forgive wrongs (but try hard not to do them). Otherwise you could end up like my second cousin who, I was told yesterday when visiting my 95 y.o. aunt, is just finalizing her fifth divorce. Oh, and try to avoid ever saying, or even thinking,”But if I agree with you we will both be wrong”. Good luck, you’ll need it down the road.

  2. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness and joy. And remember, the boss is the one who let’s the other one think they’re the boss. (Got that the future Mrs Doug? let him think he’s the boss, he’ll never know)

  3. Coming up on 40 years. I’ve always claimed, “I’ve been married long enough to know, when to be quite.”
And it has been tested with the question, “Aren’t you going to answer me”, and I said, “No, there is no good answer.”
People generally get divorced for the same reasons they got married, just from the opposite point of view.
For the newlyweds, Congratulations, and always remember this day and why you married in the first place.

  5. Congratulations! we just had our 37th and as you know it isnt all fun and games so my advice to you is to ban the word “divorce” from any conversation. Find a church to attend if you havnt already and put God first in your relationship.

  6. Congrats kids. Charlie Walks on Water said it. Keep God first, He IS love. Celebrate His love together. Keep your marriage fun and laugh often, at yourselves and situations. Find a positive in anything that comes your way.

Always remember that it is you two together equals one vs. any negativity the world may hand you.
