Sessions Says More Firings Possible Following DOJ Report

DC- Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Wednesday that more firings are possible following the release of a forthcoming Department of Justice report of an investigation into the FBI’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

“If anyone else shows up in this report to have done something that requires termination we will do so,” Sessions told The Hill’s Buck Sexton.

The Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) on Thursday will release a 500-page report of an investigation into the FBI’s handling of former Secretary of State Clinton’s email investigation.

The report is expected to be heavily critical of former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch.  more here

  1. Sessions will probably just rehire Comey and McCabe, then fire them again and be done with it. He doesn’t seem overly interested in repairing the waning confidence in the FBI or pursuing corrupt Obama officials and former candidates for President.

  2. Does anyone else find it curious that the same DOJ “ethics committee” that told Sessions he had to recuse found that Rosenstein did not? This, despite the fact that Sessions was NOT a Trump campaign member and only had a brief, polite greeting at a public event with the Russian ambassador but Rosenstein has a 30 year relationship with Mueller, wrote the memo recommending Comey be fired and is thus a potential witness?

One other curious item – discrediting the Congressional staffers recollection of being threatened by Rosenstein was – you guessed it – a member of the DOJ ethics committee.

Mr AG: I recommend you start your firing with the members of the DOJ “ethics committee”

    You are full of crap.

Sessions doesn’t play games with investigations. Don’t confuse silence with incompetence. He appointed Huber, who has empaneled a grand jury to look into the malfeasance found by the IG. DJT had to clean out the top DOJ and FBI management before anything could be done. I suspect many indictments will be unsealed soon.

Remember the rule forgotten in the past administrations: the DOJ does not comment on ongoing investigations.

Things are just stating. These are very interesting times.

    MAGA!

  4. “The report is expected to be heavily critical…of Comey”

    “McCabe has already been criticized”

    “Lynch will reportedly be dinged”

To hell with this dinging and criticizing, and the “possible firing” of people.

    Ctrl-F “prosecution “………………………………

No, if you believe it was done to create an appearance of “distance/impartiality” for Sessions and also to allow him to focus on The Big Fish, while Rosenstein covers the (only relative to the Big Fish) Small Fish in the DoJ/FBI who did the footwork of their overlords.

  6. You want to hear how the radio station which employs Erick Erickson is presenting the IG report? Here’s the gist of it, which I heard fifteen minutes ago:

President Trump is awaiting the report in hopes that it will clear him of obstruction of justice charges. Also whether or not FBI/DOJ actions affected the outcome of the election.

I kid you not. The spin begins.

  7. Val, the station which employs Erick Erickson is now leading the news with your story, followed by the IG report spin. This station also carries Rush, so I expect he will be preempted by a cat stuck in a tree in a few minutes.

They always are. Things don’t get “interesting” until there is blood in the streets. “Very”… well…
