The once great coffee chain, turned public bathroom surrounded by a coffee shop, is quietly raising prices for paying customers.
Starbucks decided last month to make a policy to allow guests to hang out all day or use the bathroom, or otherwise take up space, without having to make a purchase. That missing revenue is now being passed on to normal people who actually buy things in fast food chains.
This marks the third time in three years Starbucks has raised prices in 8,000 U.S. locations.
The price hike will be anywhere between ten and 20 cents depending on the location. A “tall” 12-ounce regular coffee (or “small” for the rest of the civilized world) will now cost between $1.95 to $2.15. MORE HERE

A guy called into the radio and said he’d purchased a bunch of small denomination gift cards and has been handing them out to homeless people encouraging them to head to the nearest Starbucks and letting them know they don’t have to leave even if they don’t use the card.

So now Starbucks customers have to subsidize hangouts for human flotsam and jetsam. Will they ever wise up?

They should make it a membership only store, or just charge a cover charge to even get into the place which is then credited back on your first purchase.
$10 a head, payable only through a credit card, should keep the riff-raff out.
Any business model that makes 98% of the blacks and Mexicans not want to patronize your business is going to be seen as desirable by the rest of your clientele.

Recently, I discovered Nestle makes an instant coffee for the Mexican market. It has cinnamon in it. Tastes delicious. Glad I never needed Starbucks to begin with.
It’s summer. I know where to go to hang out and cool off and use the bathroom. And not spend one thin dime.
I tried a cup once – bitter as the people who frequent the place.
Never been in one; never will.
