All four living former first ladies — Rosalynn Carter, Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush and Michelle Obama — have stepped out of political retirement to condemn the Trump administration’s practice of separating parents and children at the border.

Speaking at a women’s group in New York City on Monday, Clinton called family separation “an affront to our values” and said she had warned Trump’s immigration policy would lead to this during her 2016 presidential campaign against him.

And she said journalists should call out the White House for perpetuating “an outright lie” by blaming Democrats for the law.

Clinton, a practicing Methodist since her childhood, also slammed the administration’s religious justifications for the practice.”

“Those who selectively use the Bible to justify this cruelty are ignoring a central tenant of Christianity,” the former first lady said. “These policies are not rooted in religion. What is being done using the name of religion is contrary to everything I was ever taught.”

She added, “Jesus Christ said, ‘Suffer the children unto me,’ not ‘let the children suffer.'”

  5. This is all about amnesty. They didn’t care about cages when obongo bongo was doing it.

    If they can get the kids back with the parents, everyone will consider that “proof” that the parents didn’t commit a real crime. So amnesty would be next.

    We’ve been separating kids from parents since day one of this country.
    Those illegals are criminals.

    If Trump caves on this and lets the kids get back with the parents, WE WILL KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IT IS ALL OVER FOR OUR SIDE ON THIS ENTIRE ISSUE. ALL THAT WILL BE LEFT IS THE AMNESTY VOTE WHICH WILL PASS EASILY, IF THESE PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER CONSIDERED CIMINALS THAT NEED TO HAVE THEIR CHILLIN TAKEN AWAY.

    First ladies ARE NOT PRESIDENTS. Being First Lady does not get you first in line for president! We are not a monarchy, despite the Bushes. Because your husband was president, does not mean your children or you should be too, nor that feckless c*nt. She didn’t deserve senator nor Secretary of State. She was a failure at both.

  34. Ya know the funny thing is, I think Bill put up Hillary for president. I mean, Bill looked at the Keddedy’s and with all the hoo-ray for Hillary through the years (that saved him), he thought the Clintons could be like the Keddedys. It went well at first , NY Senator, Secretary of state…then poof!

    What happenend? Hillary happened. She is not Bill, by any measure. And that is probably why he constantly cheated on her and they never really had a true marriage. Secularism sucks! Because it always implodes on you!

  35. Hey, a man who tells his wife and family he’s running for president says “I’m going off for war, darling. I will be severely persecuted, you and the children will also likewise be persecuted.

    But the wives need to tone it down. Otherwise they are taking stake in the political sphere. If they want to get political, okay George Bushes wife, 43 as a republican for a wife, went not only democratic, but progressive, so there you have it.

  40. We need a new regulation (laws? pfft.): When you “retire” you can be in the public sphere, or on the public dole. You have to file you’re notarized decision within 30 days of “retirement”. And if you choose dole and slip up, you not only lose future dole, but you must (not some “may be required to”) pay back all previous dole.
