Parkland County Votes for Armed Guards in All Schools

PI: The horrific Valentines Day massacre at Majority Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland County sparked a gun control movement among the student body. Out of it emerged the “March for Our Lives,” a highly organized movement aided in large part by the media and some elected officials.

While there was an initial rise in support for gun control following the shooting, it’s since faded.

No meaningful Federal legislation passed whatsoever, though Florida Governor Rick Scott did sign legislation that raised the age to purchase a firearm to 21, introduced a three-day waiting period on all gun sales, and a ban on bump stocks. The same bill also increased funding for the training and arming of school staff. 1. I do have to wonder about a website that calls itself “political insider” but doesn’t know the difference between a city (Parkland) and a county (Broward). Almost every county in Florida has established an armed security presence in response to the new state law.

  2. But who will the watchmen watch? None of those parents will send there little treasures into such a dangerous situation. GUNS! None of the children whose parents want to very late term abort them will enter such a dangerous situation. GUNS! Seems like a no show required government check. Oh, wait… never mind.

  3. Our school system has had an armed guard for as long as I can remember. A Sheriff’s Department Deputy has always been on premises, now we have two. This should be no big deal.

Of course, this area is one where lots of people have guns. Nearly everyone. We have never had a problem, and probably never will.

  4. It may never have happened if the FBI and local authorities did their job beforehand. So typical of the politicians, they pass laws that hurt the citizens.
