The parade is run by two Irish gay guys – Patrick Fitzgerald, and Gerald Fitzpatrick.
Next years parade should not have one Catholic group or organization in it. Parish priests should instruct their congregations to not participate in any form with the parade including watching it and include a call for the boycott of any merchant or company supporting the parade. It’s time for Marty Walsh to leave and residents of Boston that recognize the hatred this Walsh supported action represents should start working against him now.

In another lifetime I spent a very, very, very, short time in seminary. Learned some things that helped me walk away from organized religion. Let’s take a walk down memory lane…
In the 50’s and even the 60’s it wasn’t looked upon as the greatest group to join and support and thus the large percentage were closeted. But where could you go, not have to marry the opposite sex and even gain great respect from the general population. Light bulb time? More and more signed up as not only was it a great place to hide, you were presented with a large group of youngsters to groom for you satisfaction. Even if you were “straight” and did the girls the hierarchy would protect you if you got caught (speaking of Boston). Need I continue with specific stories? I only wonder if they, (the Cat Lickers) will ever take back the majority of those being in the clergy as straight. I’m sure they’ll tell you it’s no different percentage than the general population, but I call bullshit.

I remember living in the area and the queers merely wanting “a presence” in the parade, which was met with fierce opposition.
Fast forward 25 years and the queers totally own the event.
