DC: Democratic Indiana Sen. Joe Donnelly is walking a fine line on immigration.
The red-state Democrat, who is campaigning for re-election in a state President Donald Trump won by almost 20 points in 2016, has broken with other Democratic senators by supporting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and pledging to support Trump’s proposed border wall.
But even as Donnelly publicly signals his willingness to work with Trump on immigration, his campaign has quietly allied with progressive liberal activists who hold a deep opposition to enforcing the nation’s immigration laws.
Donnelly’s political director, Michael Lindberg, spoke at a July 15 rally hosted by a left-wing group, DeportingLove, that compared immigration enforcement to the Holocaust and the Trump administration to Nazis. more
This is the CD in which Mike Braun won the Republican primary as an outsider against Rokita and Messer. Remember the ads with the two full-sized cardboard replicas of the them? This DC article makes it sound like Donnelly is running unopposed.
We will find out if the people of Indiana are stupid or not
Donnelly just got back from the tailor and his sheep’s clothing fits like a glove.
@Davy: we’re not stupid; we just haven’t had a non-swamper to run against this clown for a couple of cycles. If he were comfortable in the outcome of the race he wouldn’t be trying to be seen as running to the center (we know he’s still a leftist through and through).
@TommyBoy in IN — So, what’s going on with Braun, then? Even if he’s not an ideal candidate, it’d be better than Donnelly, Yes?
@AA:
Very much so.
