Rep. Steve Cohen (TN-D) in hot seat when recording catches sick ‘joke’ about Marsha Blackburn

BPR: A Tennessee Democrat displayed a sick sense of humor when he joked about wishing congresswoman Marsha Blackburn would jump off a bridge.

And Rep. Steve Cohen made the comment at a church prayer breakfast for her Democrat opponent.

The breakfast, hosted by former Gov. Phil Bredesen, who is running for U.S. Senate against Blackburn, was held at the Broadway Baptist Church in Memphis last month. Audio of the comments was obtained by the Huffington Post.

“The big orange president, that’s not somebody from Knoxville,” Cohen said. “He’s going to come down here and endorse Marsha Blackburn. ‘Cause Marsha Blackburn, if he says, ‘jump off the Harahan Bridge,’ she’ll jump off the Harahan Bridge.”

“I wish he’d say that,” he added, as the audience laughed. “She will do anything he says.” more

  1. Marsha Blackburn is late discovering/realizing this POS was never her friend when they were both in the Tenn legislature as she thought. She needs to go another step and admit he is a low class / no class bum.

  2. Blackburn turned into a swamp creature so she’s going to need all the blind support she can get. Squish and Blackburn go together like peanut butter and jelly.

That’s why Bredesen runs all those ads where he’s a calm, reasonable problem solver who reaches across the aisle.

Anyone who has listened to a Blackburn speech in the last decade can hear she is divorced from the people she represents and cannot even speak the language of conservatism. She mouths platitudes and arranges words in a way that do not make sense. She comes off as “severely conservative” reading a script someone else wrote.

Having said that, I voted for her in the primary because I have no choice. I am not the voter she needs to worry about. She has survived in a safe Williamson County district her entire tenure and now she has to win in a non-slam dunk statewide race. I question if she can do it.
