Has anyone seen the Tru TV game show called Paid Off?
Three contestants with student debt compete against one another. The winner has their winnings applied toward their debt.
At the beginning of the show they interview the students and invite them to rant about the injustice of having to pay back their loan.
Tonight they asked an architecture major what kind of building she would construct to best depict her debt. She answered, “a middle finger.” The audience whooped it up.
So the lending agency who took a chance on a snot-nosed ingrate with no collateral is the bad guy? The position of the show, because the host has said as much, is that college should be “free.” I’ve seen the show twice and both times he closed the show by lecturing about how people can be so cruel, making young people pay for college.
Why stop there?
