DC:
Defense Secretary James Mattis authorized the National Guard troops deployed to the southwest border to stay there for another year, the Pentagon confirmed Friday.
Mattis granted a 12-month extension of the current deployment order, which authorizes up to 4,000 guardsmen to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents until Sept. 30, the end of the current fiscal year.
The extension permits the same deployment through Sept. 30, 2019, Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Jamie Davis told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
“It’s the same mission, the same set up,” Davis said.
The border deployment, dubbed Operation Guardian Support, kicked off April 13 in response to President Donald Trump’s call to use the military to guard against rising illegal immigration. A joint operation with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the mission aims to provide surveillance and logistical support to border agents, freeing them up to interdict drug and human smuggling. read more
If we need to double the numbers I support that. In fact, I would join a volunteer effort to support them. I could put in a week on and a week off. I’ll pay my own way too. We need to show the invaders that we have had all we can stand and we can’t stand no more. Somebody famous said that.
We should use a lot of different kinds of drones to protect the border.
The big ones fly high and spot the trespassers on thermal cameras.
They ‘paint’ the targets with a laser.
Two smaller drones are deployed. One will again ‘paint’ the target. This time with a cocktail of pheromones.
The other deploys the chiggers.
The pheromones from the first drone are wide ranging, and sophisticated.
Every insect for miles round will seek them out.
They should look to avoid bears and cattle as well.
I’d feel better if the National Guard were armed. Did you notice, all the non-border participants are Trump states?
Make it a permanent mortar practise range.
@Lazlo
Don’t think that will work, the lice the illegals are infested with can each eat 100 chiggers a day.
