UW-Madison Student Leaders Demand “Ice Cream For All”

The signature ice cream of the University of Wisconsin- Madison campus, called “Babcock,” has a beef gelatin additive that student council members claim members of other religions are unable to ingest without violating their faith (Jews, Muslim, Hindu, vegetarians). They have created a petition to change the ingredients and will vote on the measure Wednesday. More

  1. Funny how this didn’t become an issue until the mozlem hordes started infesting our country. I don’t recall any protests out of concern for the Jewish, Hindu or Buddhist faiths before. What a bunch of dim-witted dhimmis.

They should just rename the “Babcock” ice cream “Sharia-compliant” flavored ice cream.

  2. It is conceivable that, in an iron deficient person, or one with related iron uptake problems, the calcium in the dairy could impair the metabolic uptake of iron. Probably not very common though.
There are several admonitions about periods of time to wait between dairy and meat, in various religious dietary laws. My thought is that it is probably related to the time before refrigeration.
Just put the ingredients on the label and let people decide. If they have such strong feelings, they should be well informed and able to care for themselves. Or they can just eat something else. I’d have major concerns about their HFCS content and colorings.
And I’m a 50+ year vegetarian. I just hope people have enough to eat and that they are happy.
