Burning Man (the annual Labor Day art event in the Nevada Desert) attracts all kinds, but lately it seems the event is being overrun by people with too much money and not enough brains.
Case in point, the people who shipped in components of a 747 and assembled them in the wilderness to create some kind of mobile disco art project.
The thing is too big now to just drive it out of the desert (and off national park lands) and the owner doesn’t want to tear it down again to move the separate pieces. Burning Man has been over for two weeks and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management has declared that the partially assembled passenger aircraft is trespassing on federal property and must be moved. More
If anyone wants to experience Burning Man without actually going to it, just read Genesis 19.

Obviously, this douche has enough money, BLM should let it stay…for $10,000 per day.
Double parked?
“no burning man until the plane is moved.”
how 10 more planes showed up in the desert overnight.
“…the owner doesn’t want to tear it down again to move the separate pieces…”
I do a lot of things I don’t want to. Because not doing them would be painful one way or another. Handcuff the deadbeat to the “pieces”. Leave him a phone and a dull hacksaw.
AA, too bad some of them can’t turn around like Lot’s wife did and become permanent pillars of salt in the Nevada desert. I don’t want to be anywhere near where fire and brimstone are likely to fall and burning man deserves it in spades. My brother and his wife and an older female cousin who’s been crazy most of her life (I still like her though in small doses) went to burning man a few years ago, I didn’t ask my brother why although sometimes I think he’s got a few screws loose. We’ve kind of have a love/hate relationship most of our lives I’m the #1 brother, he’s #2.
Find a piece of private property within towing distance near by and negotiate a storage fee.
There are several private patented ranches and mining claims in the area.
I was working nearby when they moved the ritual to the Black Rock desert 1991?
I was a geologist in disseminated gold exploration at the time and the gathering sounded like a bunch of crazy druggies crawling all over each other like a box full of hamsters.
Intriguing.
The gathering was only 40 miles away, but I drove home to Denver instead.
Did I miss out on a turning point in history or was my decision a blessing in disguise?
Ha – I know Ken Feldman, the guy behind it, via my former boss who is a big Burning Man aficionado. Nice guy. Guess he’d better find a big tow truck!
This sounds just plane crazy to me.
Hippies. I hate hippies. Always have.
