This won’t be for everyone, particularly those that don’t think the anthem should be experimented with. But, he’s not kneeling, and musical interpretation aside, he has the right emotion.
Good job, Jackson Dean. (Try and guess what state Dean’s high school is in.)
He’ll be signed to a record label within a year.
NICE, Very Nice. Well Done Son
It’s good to see youth not wearing hoodies and masks.
I’m liking it.
Shades of Ray Lamontagne.
I’m guessing Tennessee….
I saw him on Fox this morning and he is, surprisingly, from Maryland (near Annapolis). He has an album coming out in December and his team won last night! I liked this rendition very much.
A little bit more of the actual melody would have been nice.
Annapolis? Navy? No, it said “high school” up front.
Jackson Dean sang straight from his heart. God Bless him.
Quite lovely. I’m in the camp that it shouldn’t be messed with (especially the women who use it to practice their scales).
But this one, I approve!
Beautiful! Didn’t know what to expect. I’m with Claudia about the ridiculous uluing (sp?) of the anthem by women.
Each artist can put their own interpretation on the song. Very well done!!
Keeping in mind that the actual melody is taken from another song, thus interpretation is heartfelt and definitely original.
And that man put his respect, heart and interpretation into that performance!
Very well done indeed!
I went straight to Texas. VERY surprised at his actual location! Respectful rendition. Nobody kneeling. Awesome kid and awesome high school in a blue state.
That was better than I expected. He has my permission to do it again.
Young man…I salute you.
There is hope
That was terrible, sorry.
I gave him a thumbs up at YouTube. It takes a lot of courage to even get in front of a microphone with a guitar and sing.
Ol Hickory was a very popular man. We have over 12 cities named after him in the West alone(my bro lives in Jail, or.). My daughter taught Physics at a school in Jackson Miss; one of 3 cities there named after Ol Hick. I would have guessed Miss or Tenn based on his accent.
If you think I kid about how popular the English killer was note my moniker!
Well I was a Was a “Wildcat” back in the 70s, but that was in Naples, Italy. An interesting rendition that I did not hate. Lad needs to work on those calves….

It brought tears to my eyes. Of course the National Anthem always does, except for a few versions done by creeps.
This was an exceptionally well executed, unique rendition.
And then there is Jimmy Hendrix’s rendition that I love. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKAwPA14Ni4
