  1. Even though I understand how tempting it is to do so, I have little sympathy for those who either exaggerate or downright falsify their military service. Sadly, I believe it may be even more common than most people think, since I have personally known a few cases myself. The guys who have seen the really bad shit usually don’t want to talk about it. That’s why I always immediately suspect the people who like to tell war stories. Or sex stories, for that matter.

    P.S. – A veteran’s DD 214 will usually uncover a lot of misrepresentations, if they were made.

  2. Such bullshit. Anybody else (meaning us poor peons) and your were lying but if your a Dick like Blumunthal you’re misspeaking. This is one guy that needs to be taken out to a back alley at midnight and be given a grammar lesson.

    He MEANT to say that he was Eisenhower’s Chief advisor on that whole D-Day thing and did most of the planning hisself.

    Lying fuckin sack of shit. Ed Kugler wrote that he met enough Marine Force Recons (after the war) to populate Texas – he should have tried Connecticut!
