There’s only one poll that matters

Patriot Retort:

You know, in my lifetime I have never participated in any election year opinion poll?

I’m fifty-five years old and it’s never happened.

But I don’t care.

The truth is, there’s only one poll that matters. And I have participated in that poll my entire adult life.

Back in October 2016, in a column titled Vote, I wrote:

Ignore the polls. Forget the predictions. Until the rubber meets the road and people – actually living, breathing people – cast their ballot, nobody can determine the outcome.

Because you and I – all of us – are the ones who will determine the outcome.

The goal of the Enslaved Press and opinion polling is to create an air of inevitability around Hillary Clinton. Their hope is to dispirit you – to leave you feeling as if your vote will make no difference.

They want you to give up and stay home in November. Because that’s the only way Hillary Clinton can win.

But they’ve miscalculated. Their ability to sway you into staying home in defeat rests solely in how much voters trust what the Enslaved Press says.

And we don’t trust them anymore.

There is only one poll that matters.

And that is next Tuesday.

Once again, the news media is treating an election as a fait accompli — this time telling us that the Democrats will retake the House. more here

  1. Hillary had it in the bag. Nuff said.

Polls are designed to discourage conservatives.

Oh. And election night exit polls gave John Kerry the presidency in 2004. I listened on the radio as I finished working the polls that night and it put me into despondency. For a few hours until the real numbers came in.

Kavanaugh tantrums + Caravan antics does not equal Blue Wave.

  2. I just found this gem in my notes:

“The central question of the 2018 elections should be simple, do you want Americans to continue to be more prosperous, more able to invest in their businesses and families, and have more control over their futures–or do you want to elect Democrats?”
    Newt Gingrich, July 27, 2018
‘nough said. Do the right thing, amigos.

  3. I’m unsure how they decide how to poll but I’ve been inundated for the last month or two with poll calls, live and robo (also please donate money calls — it’s about 40-60). Maybe if they get you on a poll once? Maybe depending on where you’re located?

At any rate, it’s got so bad that if I see anything on the caller ID that’s not local or recognized, with someone’s real name attached, I’m picking it up and hanging it right back up without saying anything.

  4. Janitor –

I always assumed it was from the phone book. I get the calls on my published land-line number.

Never on my unpublished cell number.

    Other than that…I dunno

  5. That’s the thing. Even if a pollster happens to connect with the few remaining people that actually answer their landline, and the respondent actually answers truthfully, they’re still only talking to a minor subset of the voting public.

Polling methodology is mired in the past and is useless misinformation

  6. Landline is quite possible — I have a home office, so several of them. I’ve only accidentally answered a few times on one of the voice landlines. I had to take the fax off the hook. A computer network on a landed DSL is getting calls. But even the cell is getting some too (although I suspect these are not polls, but soliciting donations from the RNC.) Sometimes they all ring in succession.

The other thing I’m wondering is, 3 kids in the military use me as their official address, so maybe that’s increasing the number of calls.

It’s been irritating. All hours of the day and evening, including weekends, starting in September.

  7. We killed the landline. Caller ID always was unknown or unlisted caller.
I changed iPhone number in an update this year and started getting moveon.org get out the vote blue wave text messages. I’ve responded to several with my intention to vote all republican and MAGA. A couple have gotten the hint and said they will drop me from their list.
